Q: What File Formats do you allow to post fanworks in?

A: The following file formats are currently allowed for posting on the site.

FAN FICTION
Currently accepted document formats
+ Microsoft Word (.doc)
+ WinWord, WordPad (.rtf)
+ HTML (.htm, .html)
* Plain Text, NotePad (.txt)

(+) = Bold/Italics/Underlines/Font IS preserved. (I.E. A Brown cow skipped merrily through a field...)
(*) = Bold/Italics/Underlines/Font is NOT preserved. (I.E. A Brown cow skipped merrily through a field...)

Make sure the file has the proper file extension. For example, a MS Word document should always have a ".doc" at the end of the file name.

FAN ART

Currently accepted artwork formats
+ JPEG (.jpg)
+ GIF (.gif)

Make sure the file has the proper file extension. For example, a MS Word document should always have a ".doc" at the end of the file name. On Plain Text, please try to word wrap your stories to around 70 characters, as too much over that causes them to look somewhat weird on the site.

Click the "Post New Story" Link on the menu to the left, then fill out the subsequent forms concerning story details.


Q: How do I use the Story Manager?

A: Depending on what action you wish to perform, follow the appropriate instructions from below:

  • ADDING CHAPTER(S)
    To Add Chapter(s) to the story, select the radio icon next to the subsection you want to add the chapter(s) (Do NOT select a subsection if you want it to be in the Main Body), then click the "ADD CHAPTER(s)" button.

  • UPDATING A CHAPTER
    To Update a Chapter, select the radio icon next to the chapter you wish to update, then click the "UPDATE CHAPTER" button.

  • ADDING A SUBSECTION
    To Add a Subsection, click the "ADD SUBSECTION" button.

  • REMOVING A SUBSECTION
    To Remove a Subsection, select the radio icon next to the subsection to wish to remove (Subsections are Highlighted in Blue), then click the "REMOVE SUBSECTION" button. All chapters in the subsection being removed will be moved into the Main Body of the Story.

  • EDITING MAIN/SUBSECTION TITLE
    To Edit the Main Title or the Title of a Subsection, select the radio icon next to the Main Title (Highlighted in Red) or the Subsection (Highlighted in Blue) you wish to edit the title of, then click the "EDIT MAIN/SUB TITLE" button.

  • MOVING CHAPTERS/SUBSECTIONS UP & DOWN
    To Move a Chapter OR Subsection's Position Up or Down in the scheme the story select the radio icon next to the chapter/subseciton you want to move, then click either the "MOVE UP" or "MOVE DOWN" button.

  • MOVING CHAPTERS INTO SUBSECTIONS
    To Move a Chapter From the Main Body OR Another Subsection of the Story Into a new Subsection, select the radio icon next to the chapter you want to move and the select the radio icon next to the subsection (Subsections are Highlighted in Blue) you want to move it to. Then click "MOVE CHAPTER TO."

  • MOVING CHAPTERS FROM A SUBSECTION TO THE MAIN BODY
    To Move a Chapter From a Subsection TO the Main Body, select the radio icon next to the chapter you want to move and then click "MOVE TO MAIN."

  • EDITING THE MAIN INFORMATION ON A MULTIPART STORY
    To edit the rating and description of the main title for a Chaptered work, click the "EDIT MAIN STORY INFO" button and make the changes in the form provided.

Q: How do I remove a Story/Chapter?

A: To Remove a full story or a chapter or several chapters from a story, first click "REMOVE STORIES" on the menu bar on the left side of the screen. This will bring up a list of ALL the stories (and their chapters) that you have posted to the site. To select a FULL story for deletion, select the title that is marked in this fashion: "===Story Title===". REMEMBER! If you delete the main Title, you delete it ALL. All chapters, All Reviews. No chance of recovery. To remove just a chapter, Select the appropriate chapter by name. You can select multiple stories/chapters at the same time for removal by simply holding down the CTRL key.

Click the "POST NEW ART" link on the menu on the left hand side of the screen and fill out the series of forms that follows.


Q: How do I Update one of my pieces of Artwork?

A:

To Update a piece of Artwork on the site, Click the "Update Artwork" on the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Selec the Piece of artwork by name that you wish to update, then click "NEXT --->". Make the changes to the information and select an updated file in needed and click "NEXT --->" once more. If there are no mistakes then the artwork will be updated and the process will be complete.


Q: When I go to upload my fanfic, it says that my File is Empty? What am I doing wrong?

A: Usually this error occurs with Microsoft Word/Or equivalent word processors when a user leaves the file open that they were working on, and then tries to post it. Because the file is open on their machine, the browser doesn't have access permission to upload it, throwing a "File Empty Error."

If closing your word processor doesn't solve the problem, then your file may be under the minimum size requirements of 1kb.


Q: How do I upload my files onto the site, so I can post them?

A:

To upload your files onto the site, Select the "UPLOAD/DELETE FILES" link under the menu heading "FILE MANAGER" in the left hand menu bar in your "MY ACCOUNT" area. This will open the File Manager program.

Now, for each file you wish to upload, type in a name for the file and then select the file you wish to upload. Once this is done, click the "UPLOAD" button. If you are on Dial up, you may have problems with the site timing out during upload. To solve this, reduce your file size by making it into multiple parts (For writing) or reducing its dimensions (For Art).

Repeat this process as many times as necessary till all your files are uploaded.


Q: How do I find out if the Category I want to Post to is available on the Site?

A: Go to your "My Account" page and on the top right just below the "MAIL" tool bar you will find two links, one marked "Nominate Category" and the other "Categories Available". Click "CATEGORIES AVAILABLE" to get a full listing of all Fan Fiction/Original Fiction, Fan Art/Original Art categories are currently on the site. Please use this tool before nominating a new category, its getting old to have "Mario" being nominated over and over and over again when the categories been there a year.
