Lies
By Cali Bennington
Cali groaned as Mike started taking his tie off again.
"Mike, come on, they DON'T care if you have a red tie or a blue one. Just hurry up."
Mike turned and glared at her.
"Cali, this release party is important to me."
"I know, Mike. I know. I just don't think you should be late for the party, that's all."
"We wont be late. Just, just..."
Mike waved his hand at her and went back into the closet. Cali glared after him and started to go
downstairs. Picking up her cellphone from where it had been charging, she dialed Chester's number
and waited impatiently as it rang.
"Hello?"
"Chaz, Mike's being a priss about his tie."
She was whining, but Chester didn't care. He was glad she'd called. He hadn't heard from her in a
few days. Not since the last time they'd met up at the local hotel.
"What would you like me to do this time? Tie him up with it? Whip him with it?"
"Sounds kinky. All of the above, please."
"I figured. You two will be at the party soon, right?"
"If he hurries his ass up."
"Awww, hey, if you want, we can sneak off to the coat room again..."
Cali smiled. She knew he had to be waggling his eyebrows like he always did when he suggested that
they snuck off to do their buisness.
"If you like...oh, he's ready. I'll see you soon."
"Mmmhmm, bye."
"Bye."
Cali closed her phone and smiled at Mike. He looked nice in his pressed slacks and white shirt. He'd
chosen to abandon the tie and instead, opted for an open collar.
"Well, well, Mr. Shinoda. You look almost good enough to--"
"We don't have time, Cali. Come on."
Mike was hurrying her around, pulling her toward the door while she frowned at him. Why did he
always do that whenever she made advances toward him? Shit, they'd only had sex twice since getting
together a few months before and she was starting to get tired of getting her kicks in the back of
Chester's car.
"Mike,"
"What?"
"Do you still want me?"
She was climbing into the car and had paused when he stared at her like she was crazy.
"Yes."
"Lately, I'm not so sure."
Slipping into the car, she buckled herself in for the long, silent ride to the Trump hotel. When
they arrived, Chester was waiting near the door wearing a nice, black Armani suit. Cali practically
drooled on herself as she got out and smiled at him.
"Hey!"
"Hey Chaz."
Mike sounded kind of down now and his face showed it.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing. Come on, they're probably waiting."
Mike brushed past Cali and went inside, leaving her alone with Chester.
"What's with him?"
"I questioned my worth to him. You know how it is, Ches. He wont fuck me."
"But I will."
Chester was grinning and it was all Cali could do not to jump him right there.
"You wanna just, go?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I think I do."
Cali watched Mike's figure dissappear into the crowd of reporters and rap stars and turned around,
her heels clicking on the cement as she walked away to Chester's car.
Inside, Mike was looking around, wondering why Chester and Cali hadn't come in yet. Then, it hit
him. She was gone. They were both gone. Like always, they were off fucking behind his back, like he
didn't know. That was the only reason he hadn't been sleeping with her. He didn't want Chester's
sloppy seconds. It was bad enough she had gone from Chester to himself, but the fact that she was
going back to him was what made him sick.
"Mike, where's your date?"
"She couldn't make it. She's not feeling well."
Another lie. He was always telling lies these days. And they were always about Cali's
wherabouts.
"I see. Stay up, man. She'll get better."
"Yeah. I'm sure."
