Chapter 1 - The
*Beep Beep Beep*
The alarm clock wakes me up and i groggily stretch out in my bed and make my way to the bathroom for
the usuals in the morning.
I look in the mirror and notice how wild my hair looks and i don't have enough time to tame the
beast. I will just have to settle for a
ponytail and try to look presentable. My room mate and best friend Ella who also works for revolver
magazine has chose the wrong
time to go down with the flu, leaving me to have to attend to her assigment. To interview former
Avenged Sevenfold's lead singer
'Trinity, It took me 9 months to get a call back from this man. he doesn't like doing interviews.
I'm sure if he ignored the calls again, i'd
have to wait another six months before he will answer the phone again. As the editor, i can't blow
this off but i can't work in this state
either...You have to interview him for me and record it so i can do the assignment, Please Trin...'
Ella begs me in a croaky sore throat
voice. She is very beautiful with strawberry blonde hair.
'I'll do it on one
condition, you go and get yourself into bed but not before you
take something for you're flu'
'I'll take some Nyquil for it. Here are the questions and the mini recorder. Just press here and
write notes and i'll translate it all down on
paper when i get better'
'I don't know anything about the guy. I just know he was a good singer' I say trying to hide the
panic in my voice.
'The questions will help you out with that and see you through your day. Now go it's a long drive to
LA from here and i don't want you being
'Okay i'll go now! I have made you some soup, you just need to heat it up and then eat it Miss' I
smile at her fondly.
'Good Luck, Trin...You're a lifesaver..Thank you'
I smile at her and make my way out the door with my satchel bag and everything i need. I can't
believe i let her talk me into this. She is very
persuasive and will make a great Journalist one day.
The roads are clear so i
get there faster than expected. I am meeting mr. Shadows at his former
recording studios. It's quarter to two and i am 15 minutes early so i head up with my pass ready for
the interview. I take the elevator in the building
and find myself on the 10th floor. I straighten myself up and speak....
'I'm here to see Mr. Shadows, Trinity Fox on behalf of Elle Turner for Revolver Magazine' I feel
self conscious as i wait for her reply.
'Wait one moment, Miss Fox'
..........10 Minutes later.....
'He's ready for you now, Just sit outside the door at the other end of the corridor and he will be
out to greet you very soon'
I smile and turn towards the one of two doors blocking me from Ella's Assigment....I start nervously
shaking my leg and begin to bite my nails
waiting for him. The door opens and we're ready.
'Hi, I'm Mr. Sanders assistant. Can i get you tea or coffee??'
'Just water thank you' i smile
A tall man comes out of the room behind me and tells me, he's ready for me. Here goes.
I start to walk in and my shoe tips to the side making me fall. Maybe i'm not cut out for high
I am picked up to my feet and I see Mr. Shadows for the first time. He's not how i imagined him. -
So young and attractive....Very attractive.
He's Tall with dark brown hair, dressed in a casual suit and intense lovely hazel eyes. Mesmerizing
He extends his hand out and says ' Hi, I'm Matt Sanders, Are you alright Elle?'
I shake his hand and stare at him a little before dragging my hand away and replying 'Um, Actually.
I'm not Elle,
Elle is sick at the moment so she sent me to interview you on her behalf, I hope that's Okay Mr.
'And you are'
'My name Is Trinity Fox. Im Currently employed by Revolver Magazine As well as Elle'
'I see' He says Simply. I see a hint of a smile on his lips but i could be mistaken.
'Do you want to sit down' and he points me to a white leather expensive looking sofa.
I shake my head to clear my mind of these wandering
thoughts and i grab the
questions from my bag and settle them on my lap. I take out the recorder and set it on the desk
before dropping it
twice on the floor with nerves, I happened to glance up at Mr. Sanders and he hand his finger over
lips as if he was
trying to stifle a laugh.
'Sorry, I'm not used to these things'
'Take all the time you need, Miss Fox' he says.
'Do you mind if i record you're answers?' i say
'After you've gone through so much trouble setting it up- you're asking me now?'
My face turns red as i realise he was teasing me. he lets go a little and says 'No, I don't mind'
'Did Elle happen to tell you what this interview was for?'
He nods briefly and says 'Yes, to ask questions about why i decided to retire after my best friend
died, my future, my current job status
working for the record company as a producer and recording techician'
'I have some questions for you, Mr. Sanders' i say
'I thought that you might' he says and i swallow nervously as i realise he was laughing at me. My
cheeks heat up at that moment.
I sat up and stook my shoulders up as if to make myself look more mature and serious. Pressing the
start on the recorder, I try to
Look mature and Professional.
'You are so young to have retired already. Are you ready to give up on Avenged Sevenfold for good?'
'Avenged Sevenfold was a family and then all of a sudden we lost Jimmy, Our Drummer and
Best Friend and we decided we can't
carry on the band without him, despite our wishes to bring some music out in his honour'
........1 hour later the interview is
I step out of his office and he walks me to the elevator and says.'Until we meet again' and i smile
as the doors close
I drive home listening to some heavy indie rock to distract me from thinking about Mr. Sanders'
piercing eyes on me during the interview.
