Vendetta laid down in her warm bed after a long stressful day, she loved the job it's self, but
hated her boss and co-workers.
She listened to the rain fall outside as it lulled her to sleep, the occasional flash of lightning
and rumble of thunder soothed her, making her feel calmed and relaxed, making her think that she
wasn't alone in the house. Her roommate Anna, was out of town visiting her niece, and sister. Who
all live in Alaska, it was a different change for Anna considering she'd lived in Huntington Beach,
California her entire life.
Just as Vendetta was on the verge off falling to sleep, she heard a knock from downstairs on the
door. Who would be here at 11:30 at night? She flipped the covers off and got up, shivering as the
cold air hit her skin, causing goose bumps to show on her legs and arms.
She walked down the stairs quietly, walking to the door. She looked out the window and saw a
familiar shape, the outline of one of her best friends. She flipped on the porch light and unlocked
the door. She opened it up and saw her shivering, crying friend.
"Johnny?" she asked surprised.
He tumbled inside and into her arms. Vendetta was surprised by this action, Johnny and her had a
love-hate relationship. They argued and called each other names, but they always ended up loving
each other in the end. Johnny and her were like brother and sister with out all the pointless
He just shook and sobbed as they stood there in her doorway. She rubbed the nape of his neck with
the tips of her fingers.
"Johnny, what happened?" she asked quietly, trying to soothe him with her voice.
"L-l-lacey... Broke up- took house, took everything..."
Vendetta pulled him away to look in his eyes.
"She did what?" she asked sternly.
"She dumped me, and took everything. She wiped out my bank account, a-and everything. I have nothing
left but my car, bass, and a few clothes."
Vendetta's mouth dropped. She watched as Johnny's lip quivered and Vendetta opened her arms for him
to be welcomed and feel loved.
"I don't even know what I did." He cried.
"I know." She whispered kissing his temple.
"I-I loved her, didn't she love me too?" he asked.
Vendetta could feel that Johnny felt so helpless, so weak. So used. She shut the front door and
moved them to the couch, Vendetta hit the back with her knees and they fell onto it.
Vendetta continued to hold her best friend as he cried. She couldn't help but almost cry herself,
she loved Johnny and hated seeing him hurt. She kissed his head as he still cried and shook.
She'd only seen Johnny cry once or twice, once when his grandma died, his grandma and him were
close, and he loved her so much, she was his guardian and he found her dead on her bathroom floor.
"What do I do? I have no where to go, I don't wanna go to the guys because they'll tell me to just
suck it up and be a man. But, I'm so lost without her, I loved her so much. I-I even had a ring I
was going to give to her on our three year anniversary. I was going to propose to her Detta, that's
how much I loved her."
Johnny was the only one allowed to call her Detta, everyone else called her Vee, or Ven.
"Well, somehow this proves that it wasn't meant to be, Johnny I promise you that the right girl is
out there, you just have to keep looking."
"What girl would want me? I mean obviously Lacey doesn't."
"A lot of girls. You practically have girls throwing themselves at you everyday, John."
"I know, but none of them get me. And plus, when Matt and the rest of the guys come around, they'll
throw themselves at them. I'm always second best, Detta. Never first."
"Johnny, listen to me. Stop listening to the guys when they say no girl will ever want you."
"Well it's true!"
Vendetta reached her hand up and smacked him.
"What the hell was that for?!"
"I was knocking some sense into you!"
Johnny rubbed his cheek and pouted again.
"Johnny look, you're one of the most amazing guys in the world and any girl would be lucky to have
you, I promise. So what Lacey's not the one for you and is pretty big bitch if she jacked you like
that, but there is someone out there for you, I promise, Johnny."
"Can I stay here? Until I get enough money to afford a place?"
Vendetta nodded. She slipped her hand into his and pulled him along.
"I thought I was sleeping on the couch. That's what I normally do."
"Nah, you need a friend right now."
Johnny smiled and followed Vendetta to her room, closing the door behind him. It's true Johnny, you
have someone out there for you. Every pot has a lid.
