Jet Lag
By Brittany Vink

(Pierre's Point of View)

What time is it where you are?
I miss you more than anything
Back at home you feel so far
Waitin for the phone to ring
It's gettin lonely livin upside down
I don't even wanna be in this town
Tryin to figure out the time zones makin me crazy

I was sitting in the airport looking at my watch, wondering if she was up yet. What time would it be in Montreal right now? I looked around at the guys all doing their own things. Chuck was on his Ipad, David was listening to his Ipod, Jeff looked like he was sleeping, and Seb was reading.

“Dude what time is it in Montreal right now?” I asked Seb.

“It's probably about 8 in the morning there. She won't be up yet,” he responded

“She loves sleeping in but I miss her more then anything. I just want to call her and tell her I love her.”

“Then call and if she doesn't answer just leave a message for when she does wake up.”

I got up and walked over to the window and pulled out my blackberry. I looked down at the picture I had of her as my background and smiled. I took it the day I left for tour. I looked out the window at the all the planes. I knew I'd be home in a few days but everyday away from her felt like I was losing her and I felt like she was so far away from me. I looked back down at my phone and smiled at the picture again. I remember that day perfectly.

“Lins come on let me take the picture,” I said as I tried removing her hands from her face.

“Pierre I look like a mess. I just woke u. You can't wait until I look half decent?” she asked.

“You always look decent to me sweetie. Just let me take the picture.”

Fine, take the damn thing.”

She moved her hands away from her face and I snapped the picture.

“There was that so bad? Did it kill you?”

“I think I'm having a heart attack now.”

“Oh you are so funny,” I said leaning over her.

“I wish I could go with you. It's gonna be lonely here without you.”

“I know Lins, but it's only for a few weeks. I'll be back in no time.”

“How long until you have to leave?”

“A couple hours. Why?”

“I got an idea,” she said as she pulled me down on top of her and kissed me.

I wonder if she is up waiting for the phone to ring. I was getting lonely living upside down. My world was always upside down when she wasn't around. I had the guys but it wasn't the same. I don't even wanna be in this town right now. I'd rather be cuddled up to her in bed. Trying to figure out these damn time zones was starting to drive me crazy.

You say good morning
When it's midnight
Going out of my head
Alone in this bed
I wake up to your sunset
It's drivin me mad
I miss you so bad
and my heart heart heart is so jetlagged

I went through my contacts and dialed her cell. It rang and rang til the voice mail came on.

“Hi you've reached Lins and I can't come to the phone right now. If you're not my adorkable boyfriend Pierre, leave your name, number and a message after the beat. If you are my adorkable boyfriend Pierre, then good morning baby. I love you. I'll call you back when I can.”

I waited for the beep.

“Hey beautiful. It's almost midnight here but good morning. I'm going out of my head right now, wishing you were here with me. The beds on this tour are not the same as the one at our place. They're missing something. Bet you can guess what that is. I always seem to wake up to your sunsets baby. Call me back when you get this. If I don't answer, I'm on the plane. I'll call you back when we land if that happens. Miss and love you like crazy.”

I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket. I put my forehead against the window and just stared out it for what seemed like forever.

“Dude come on we're boarding,” David said from behind me.

“Okay, I'm coming,” I replied.

God how I wanted to be able to hold her and smell her hair, that always smelled like freshly baked brownies. This tour was driving me mad. The first tour I've been on in a long time without her. I walked over to the seats and grabbed my bag and walked over to the gate.

“Missing her huh?” Jeff asked

“Yeah, I miss her so bad,” I responded.

“5 more days man. You can make it.”

“I hope so.”

Not only was I jet lagged from all the flying but I felt like my heart was jet lagged from flying further and further away from her. I couldn't wait til the tour was over.

(Lins's Point of View)

What time is it where you are?
5 more days and I'll be home
I keep your picture in my car
I hate the thought of you alon
e

I woke up to see I had a missed called. I looked at my phone and saw it was Pierre.

“Crap,” I muttered.

I dialed my voice mail and listened to his message. I knew he was calling from the airport. He seems to be calling from the airport and not the hotel lately. I should have gone on tour with him. I hung up the phone after I was done listening to his message. I got out of bed and walked over to my desk and looked at the tour schedule and the guys' flight schedule. They would be leaving Ellrich and heading to Berlin. I wonder what time it'll be in Berlin when they land. I looked at the calendar and picked up a pen. I crossed off yesterday on the calendar and counted the days left until he returned. 5 more days and he'd be home. I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower to get ready for work. It was because of my boss I couldn't go with him.

“I just need three weeks off and I'll be back. I promise,” I said when I saw the look on her face.

“Lindsay I need you here. We're already short staffed as it is. You can take your vacation later.”

I walked out of the office and out to the parking lot where Pierre was in the car waiting for me. I got into the passenger seat.

“She said no didn't she sweetie?”

I didn't say a word. A single tear ran down my cheek. He brushed it away with his thumb.

“Lins you can always come on the next one. It's only three weeks. We'll survive. We've made it this far haven't we?”

“I really wanted to go with you baby.”

“I know Lins. Lets go or I'm gonna be late for rehearsal.”

He started the car and pulled out of the parking lot. We didn't say a single word the entire car ride.

I locked the door and walked to my car. I stopped and looked at his car. I wish he was here. I unlocked my car door and got in. I put my phone in the cup holder and looked at the picture of him on my dashboard. I never kept a picture of him in my car unless he went on tour and I couldn't go with him. I hate the thought of him sleeping alone every night. I know he felt the same way about me being alone. I always sat at home every night while he was gone, waiting for the phone to ring so I could hear his voice before I went to sleep.

You say good morning
When it's midnight
Going out of my head
Alone in this bed
I wake up to your sunset
It's drivin me mad
I miss you so bad
and my heart heart heart is so jetlagged

I drove to work and parked my car in my parking space. I was walking into the building when my phone rang.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Hey beautiful.”

“Hey adorkable. Good morning.”

“It's still midnight sweetie.”

“Pierre I'm going out of my head being alone in our bed every night. I've considered buying a stuffed animal as big as you just to help me make it through the night.”

“Don't buy one as big as me. Just buy a medium sized one. How's work going?”

“Good, I'm just about to start for the day. How's the tour?”

“Good but it'd be better if you were here with me Lins.”

“I know baby. So are you heading to the hotel right now?” I asked as I punched in.

“Ya we are.”

I heard all the guys say hey.

“The morons say hi.”

“I heard baby.”

“I'll let you go so you can earn some money for that stuffed animal.”

“I love you Pierre.”

“I love you too Lindsay.”

I hung up the phone. My boss came out of her office.

“How's Pierre doing?”

“He's good.”

“I'm giving the week off. Go be with your man.”

“Oh my god thank you Betty.”

“Go on get out of here. I'll pay you for today. Just go.”

I walked out of the building and got in my car. I debated on calling Pierre and telling him but I decided to surprise him. It was driving me bad to be missing him so bad.

I got home and ran into the house and started packing. Berlin here I come.

(Pierre's Point of view)

I woke up to see no missed calls or voice mails. Not even any texts. Did something happen to her? I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. Voice mail.

“Hey you've reached Lins. I'm out of town. Leave a message after the beep.”

Out of town? Where was she going? Surely she would of called me if something had happened to her dad or her mom.

(6 Hours Later)

“Time to go on Pierre,” Chuck said.

“Okay, I'll be there in a second,” I responded.

What was going on? Why wasn't her phone on and where was she? I got up and walked out on stage.

We went through our set and when it came to perfect I got the weirdest feeling that she was ok.

I miss you so bad
I wanna share your horizon
and see the same sunrising
Turn the hour hand back to when you were holding me.

We got to the hotel and I was staring at my phone while the guy walked ahead of me and they stopped for some reason cause I walked into David.

“What the hell guys? Why'd you stop?”

“She's why we stopped,” Seb said and pointed at someone.

I looked up and saw Lins sitting on a couch. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a few times to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

“I think she's real Pierre,” Jeff said.

“No Pierre it's your imagination playing tricks on you,” David said with a giggle.

“Guys don't fuck with head. Go over to her Pierre,” Chuck said.

They gave me a little shove. I started walking over to her.

“Hey beautiful,” I said when I got over to her.

She looked up and smiled immediately.

“God are you a sight for sore eyes baby,” she said as she stood up and hugged me.

“God I forgot you smelled so good.”

“You know what you told me you wished you could do on one of those postcards baby?”

“Which one?”

“The one from Denmark.”

“The thing about turning the hour hand back to when you where holding me?”

“Yes. Well I did it. I turned it back baby. Now we can share each others horizon and see the same sun rising.”

“I love you Lindsay.”

“I love you too Pierre. Now let's go to bed, she said as she picked up her bags.

“Sounds like a simple plan to me,” I responded and put my arm around her and started walking towards the elevator.
