I told her I would wait, wait forever. I've been waiting to the point of insanity. Minute by minute,
hour by hour, day by day. It all feels the same. She was the one, the one that I swear I'd hold onto
forever. I loved her, really truly loved her. Now, all I had to hold onto were the memory's of her
that fade to quickly...
"Jimmy, she's not coming back this time." Matt said rubbing my shoulder.
"I told her I'd wait, and that's what I'm doing."
"Jimmy, she may have promised. But you know for a fact if she walked through that door, she would
smack you. You and I know for a fact she wouldn't want you like this." Johnny said.
"I can't help it, I loved her..."
"We know, she changed you. She changed all of us in ways we can't explain." Matt said
"But none of you understand! I felt something with her! Something I never felt, and right now if she
walked through those doors. I wouldn't care that she'd smack me, I just want to be with her again!"
I felt the sting of tears hit. I couldn't cry. WOULDN'T cry.
"Fine, what ever Jim- call us when you are sane again..." Matt and Zacky said slamming the front
door to my house.
They don't understand. Not yet anyways. One day, the one they loved the most would be gone. Never
I stood up from the chair and slipped on my hoodie and hat. I walked out of the house not bothering
to lock the door. I don't care if someone breaks in and takes anything, everything remember reminds
me of her anyways...
I walked to the local cemetery. I needed to talk. I approached the lonely single headstone under a
weeping willow tree. The only tree and stone in about an acre. I needled down and rubbed my thumb
over the smooth indentions in the marble.
Alexa was my life. She was everything to me, I would take a bullet for her. But now she was dead,
cold, and had been rotting in the ground in her Chesapeake colored casket for about a year and a
half. I would give anything to be with her again. Even my own life.
I remember the images burned into my skull of finding her lifeless body. It wasn't hers, she didn't
claim it anymore. Her soul already passed and gone over to the other side, without her warm soul.
She was just a body. Her eyes brown and cold, most people say eyes are passageways to the soul.
Which is true, 'cause looking into her eyes. I saw nothing but pain, sorrow, and emptiness.
I felt the tears escape my eyes, falling to the green grass. I kissed the headstone, then said my
goodbyes to her. I stood up and walked back home. I opened the door and walked inside, locking it
behind me. I walked upstairs. Eight o'clock, I was tired. But I wanted to get smashed.
I pulled out a full bottle of Vodka and began downing it. I stumbled up the stairs into our room...
My room... I walked to the bathroom and grabbed my bottle of sleeping pills. Without thinking I took
one more dosage than the amount prescribed. I needed my sleep.
I stumbled to the bed. I set my empty bottle next to the other ones by my bed side and fell onto the
bed, within minutes I was asleep.
I awoke to a warm familiar touch. My hand reached up and touched the warm familiar hand.
"Alexa?" I whispered, hoping this wasn't all a dream.
"Yes?" she spoke, her angelic voice ringing like a beautiful bell.
"Is this all a dream?" I asked, my voice still in a whisper.
"Open your eyes, and you'll find out."
"But what if it is a dream, I'll loose you again."
"Jimmy, I need you to open your eyes. To see."
I opened my eyes, her beautiful flawless face. Her brown eyes shining, her bright California sun
kissed hair brighter than ever. A red rose tucked in about her ear holding back part of her hair as
it blew in the breeze.
"Alexa!" I yelled.
I wrapped my arms around her tiny frame. She was in an off the shoulder floor length white gown that
hugged her curves. I pressed my lips to hers, the electricity running through my body like a
She released her lips from mine.
"Jimmy, do you know where you are?" she asked.
I shook my head.
"No, but I don't care."
She gave me a small smile.
"Jimmy, I need you to know something before I take you to the next world completely."
"Jimmy, you died in your sleep... Right now, your body is still alive. You're just not inside. Your
soul has detached from you're body... You are in a world between worlds such as limbo basically. You
can choose to go back, or you can move on with me."
It hit me like a bullet, I loved this woman, but my friends, my family were all there.
"What's it like there?" I asked.
"Beautiful, amazing. You can do almost anything you can imagine."
"So you're an... Angel?"
She nodded her head and smiled.
"I know this is a hard decision to make on such short notice but, I need to know in I don't know
about... The next five minutes?"
"Is there anyone else out there that can be like, my almost soul mate that will make me happy
She looked down and sighed.
"No matter how much I want to see you happy again, no... There's no one that can unfortunately that
can handle you and you're craziness."
"So what are you going to do?" she asked.
I smiled and leaned in and kissed her.
"I love my friends, they are my family. But everything now feels right here. I want to be with
She looked up at me, almost with sad eyes like I made a mistake. There was a bright light that
caught our attention.
"Wow, it's beautiful..." I said.
"Sure is, and it's even prettier on the other side of it."
I slipped my hand in hers.
"Anything else I need to know before we go?" I asked.
"One, you left the water on at home. Two, God's forming a band and needs your amazing drumming
"I love your sense of humor."
"What you thought it was a joke?"
She smiled and led me into the light. I turned to the beautiful woman that I love and said.
"I belong here, with you."
Just a random one shot I felt like writing. :))
