Paralyzed
By Revenge

A loud booming thunder rattled houses all around the town. The rain poured down viciously, attacking all that was in its way, before touching the floor. A gust of wind tour through the tree branches and slammed against a window of a house rattling it. From within the house was a young man, who sat upon his couch cuddled in his blankets. He stared out the window wide eyed at the storm just outside. A streak of lightning appeared across the dark sky, the young man squeaked lightly jumping in the air. Becoming wide-eyed. Oh how he feared these damned storms. He continued to watch as the storm raged outside his house, he whined, scared. His lights had gone out close to an hour ago, and he didn't have anything to do but sit and watch and pray for the storm to pass.

A loud rang ran through the house making the young man jump. He looked around frantic as it continued to ring, he looked to his cell phone. It sat all the way across the room. He whined and ran to it quickly and back to the couch, ducking under his blanket.

“Hello!?” He huffed into the phone wide eyed.

“...Uh...Hey Zack” Said the male voice

“Hey Jimmy, sheez you scared me so bad!” Yelled Zack. Jimmy laughed through his side.

“Sorry Zee, I'm just bored. There's no lights in the house, and it's storming.” Jimmy said sighing

“No jizz its storming!” Said Zack laughing, Jimmy laughed with him.

“Can you come over Jimmy?” Said Zack slightly nervous, another boom of thunder rattled his house, making Zack yelp in fear.

“Woah Zack...are you afraid of thunder and lightning?” Said Jimmy kinda mockingly

“N-no! I'm...I'm not! I just...” Zack sighed “Yeah I am...” Jimmy laughed.

“Well, I'll be a few I don't wanna rush through in my car with the storm like this.” Said Jimmy. Zack could already hear him getting up.

“Thanks Jimmy!!! I'll see ya in a few” He hung up and stared at his blanket, as he lay underneath it. He heard his windows rattling. He whined lightly.

Suddenly the blanket was pulled away from him and tossed to the side. Zack gasped and looked up quickly to see a large black figure standing above him. Zack stared wide eyed in shock, unable to move...

Part 2

Jimmy's POV

Jimmy drove through the nearly flooded streets quietly. He looked around as people stared from inside there homes at the wreck the storm had left. A second after he had finished speaking with Zack, the storm stopped, but Jimmy was coming over anyway to spend time with his best friend. Jimmy looked ahead at the street, as he pulled into Zack's street. He parked in front of a small white house. He climbed out and started walking to the house, the curtains were shut. He walked to the door and tried opening it, but it wouldn't open. Jimmy made a face then began to knock.

He looked around the street at the damage done, some branches thrown here and there, nothing drastic. Quite quiet though....Jimmy shrugged and looked to the door, not yet having received any type of response. Jimmy frowned and knocked once more.

“Zack!!! Answer the door!!! It's cold out here!! I'm freezing my little bum out here!!” Jimmy chuckled and stared at the door waiting for his laughter. Nothing. He frowned and jiggled the knob around.

“Zack...come on! I'm seriously cold!!” Whined Jimmy.

A loud thud was heard from within the house, then a crash. Jimmy stared at the door and began to jiggle the knob more. “Zack!!?” He yelled becoming frantic, at the silence that followed the crash.

Jimmy began to kick the door becoming desperate, the eerie silence tearing at his impatient heart. The door busted open slamming against the wall, Jimmy went in quickly. He looked through the living room to see the flat screen TV cracked. It looked like a car had crashed into it. There was broken glass lying around, coming from the once beautiful glass coffee table. Jimmy began to walk through the wrecked living room towards the kitchen. “Z-zack?” His voice cracked lightly in fear. The kitchen appeared normal. Jimmy turned back and walked towards the halls where the bedrooms lie.

He went into the hall, all doors shut. He pursed his lips. He felt like he was in a corn maze. Given many choices, but only one unknown one would lead to the exit. He looked at Zack's bedroom door then nodded. He'd go in here first, then the guest room, then bathroom last. He grabbed the knob his hand shaking. He turned the knob quickly and looked in.

Inside he saw a sight, he'd never be able to forget.

Part 3

Zack lie near a table where a TV sat. Around his neck where the cables of the TV, Zack was struggling, his hands clawing at them. His face was turning a shade of a deathly blue. Jimmy ran to him quickly and started trying to help. Zack gasped out lightly as he continued to claw at the cables, barely giving Jimmy any room to work with. Zack wheezed in a rough breath, as one of the cables tightened.

“Zack! Please stop!! You're making it worse!!” Yelled Jimmy frantic, Zack stared a moment and nodded dropping his hands to his side. He grasped his jeans as he struggled to breath. Jimmy began to try to loosen the cables quickly, his eyes welling a bit with tears. Zack coughed lightly as Jimmy succeeded with one of the cables. But the strangling cables were not the only problem. Zack was bleeding profusely from his head, and was most likely internally bleeding from one of his broken ribs stabbing his internal organs. Zack's eyes widened as he saw the black figure stand beside Jimmy grinning. Zack began to struggle around, trying to speak, but unable because of the tight cables. Zack's eyes began to water.

“J-Jimm-” He choked out, but couldn't finish. The figure kicked Jimmy in the stomach sending him across the room. Zack began to claw at the cables as he watched this figure assault Jimmy. Jimmy was suddenly heaved into the door a loud crack being heard on Jimmy's impact against the door. The figure lets him go, letting him fall to the floor limp. His eyes still open, but unmoving. Zack cried out lightly, as he began to get the cables loose. The figure looked to Zack quickly and growled angrily.

The figure marched towards Zack, and sent him a rough back hand onto the face making Zack yelp. The figure crouches in front of Zack and wraps his hands around Zack's neck, strangling him viciously.

Zack struggled, lashing his arms out at the figure trying to push him away, his attempts epically failing. The figure laughed loudly, swinging his head back in joy at Zack's attempts. Zack began to slowly loose consciousness, his eyes rolling back. He glanced around getting his last sight in, the last was Jimmy's body, as his eyes shut helpless.

Part 4

~Sometime later~

Bright lights intruded Zack's slumber. He peered around feeling weak, in body and soul. Around he saw a hospital room. In the bed neighboring his, lie Jimmy. He was asleep snoring comfortably. Zack looked around once again. He touched his neck lightly and flinched at his own touch. Bruising...

He fidgeted slightly and whimpered at the soft pain that radiated through his abdomen. The door of the room opened, a doctor stepping in. The doctor looked at Zack and smiled.

“Mr. Baker, you're awake.” She smiled. Zack only nodded, he couldn't muster up his voice.

“You're very lucky one of your neighbors had heard the ruckus, and called the police. You wouldn't have made it.” She smiled once again. Zack looked to Jimmy then at her, clearing his throat.

“What about the attacker?...Is Jimmy okay?” Zack asked.

“Well...the police are searching for somebody...they wish to come in later to ask you what this person looked like I hope you won't mind that. And as for Mr. Sullivan, he...he's alright. He's paralyzed from the neck down...I'm sorry to say... whatever happened to him was bad....” She mumbled the last part about Jimmy. The scene that caused his paralization flashed through Zack's mind. He bit his lip lightly and looked away to Jimmy.

“I just...wanted to see if you needed anything Mr. Baker...” Said the doctor feeling the sadness coming off Zack. Zack only shook his head as tears began to roll down his face. He himself had gotten off so easy. The doctor nodded and left Zack to his thoughts. Zack sighed staring at Jimmy frowning, then look to the door the doctor came from. There in the corner of the room stood the black figure. The figure grinned and marched to Zack. Zack gasped struggling around for the nurse button, not able to bring his voice up once again. The figure suddenly grabs the nurse button before Zack is able. The figure grins.

“Tsk tsk tsk” Said the figure. Zack stared at him wide eyed. The figure suddenly launches at Zack with the nurses button, grabbing the cables and strangling Zack. Zack stretching his arms around in search for a form of help. The figure starts laughing as he tightens his grip around the cables around Zack's throat. Zack gurgles out a help, glancing at Jimmy, his eyes open and wide eyed. Just as he's about to yell for help, the figure snaps Zack's neck, letting him go. The figure settles everything to what would appear normal and looks to Jimmy, placing his finger over what would be his mouth.

“Shhh...” whispers the figure grinning...

James Sullivan leaves the hospital two days later, with the help of a caretaker. Jimmy unable to bear the scene of his friends death playing in his head constantly, haunting him every second, he drowns himself one day in his bath. Easy for a man who's paralyzed.
