Natural Instinct
By Crimson Vixen

She tore through the alley, ducked into a doorway, and tried to squeeze into nothingness. She needed to get away from him. If she didn't, he was going to kill her. She was sure of it this time. She heard him bounding down the sidewalk yelling drunkenly after her. "You can run but you can't hide u little bitch!". Her heart beat harder the sound bursting through her chest. She swore he could hear it from the alley. It got louder the closer he got. She felt someone grab her from behind and rush off deep into the darkness with her as he burst open the door looking for her. The arms said to her in a familiarly rough voice "Don't worry, you're always safe with me". She knew who it was and instantly relaxed. Her instincts always brought her to him. Even though it's been so long, she still felt the same each time she saw him. He turned on the lights in the room and hugged her close to him. "Don't let me go" she said. She didn't want to go back to the guy who constantly hurt her. She wanted to stay in these arms. That have always kept her safe from harm whenever she was in them. She wanted him to always hold her and never let go. "I won't let you go. Not this time" he said to her. She trusted these words. His words had always been truthful. "I love you so much I won't let you get away from me. I won't let you go back to him" he said to her, his voice full of emotion. She finally opened her eyes to see his chocolate ones staring back at her. "Brian……I love you too" And she meant it. When she said it to him she meant it. And when he pulled her closer into his strong arms and kissed her with his soft lips, she melted into him, instinctively kissing back. This was natural. This was honest. This was love.
