Screenwriting An Apology
By AmandA7X

The next day I walked into biology expecting an explanation from Kaylie about what happened this weekend but she spoke first, “hey, how are things with Zacky? Matt and Val told us when we got back yesterday.”

“I don't know I haven't really talked to him yet. I also don't want to talk about that right now. What I do want to know is what is up with you and Jimmy? Are you guys like together now?” I made sure to quickly change the subject.

“Uhm...no. We aren't together, were just...you know,” she said quietly.

“Wow, seriously?” she nodded. “Well then,” we both laughed, as our teacher was starting class.

After class I went with her, like i usually did now, to break, hoping to see Zacky. But, he wasn't there. I wanted to ask Brian if he was in school today during history but refrained since Sam was there and she wouldn't have approved. After practice I was hoping to see him in his usual spot in the parking lot. He wasn't there either.

“I don't get it, he texted me last night saying he wanted to talk to me today. Where the fuck is he?” I asked her as we drove back to my house.

“Wait, he texted you? What did you say back?” she kept looking over to me.

“I kind of didn't respond,” I said lowering my head. “I didn't know what to say.”

She laughed, “a simple `sure let's talk tomorrow' would've been fine. Oh, well look he's here just go up to Brian's room and talk to him,” she said as we pulled up to my house and saw his car.

“You not coming in?” I asked as I got out.

“No, I have tons of stuff to get done. I'll see you tomorrow. Let me know what happens.”

When I got inside, I walked quietly up the stairs and went straight to Brian's room and knocked before walking in. He turned around in the chair he was sitting in to look at me but I looked around the room and Zacky wasn't there.

“Is Zacky here?” I asked nervously and he just pointed in the direction of my room, he didn't look very happy.

I walked over to my room and hesitated before I opened the door to see Zacky standing by my desk and a stack of Resse's on my desk.

“Zacky,” I started, but he cut me off.

“Ryleigh, come here,” he said and I walked over to him and he took my hands. “I know you're mad at me but just listen to for a minute?” I sighed and nodded, I couldn't even look at him yet, before he continued, “I'm sorry for being such an asshole and trying to make you do something you weren't ready for and then bringing up Amy, that's not fair to you and I will never do it again. I promise. I know I should've known better but I had too much to drink and I wasn't thinking right. I'm so sorry and I can wait until you're ready and we've been going out longer.”

I took my hands back from his before saying, “Z, I know you were drunk and I don't even care about you trying to have sex with me anymore but you compared me to Amy who you know for a fact I don't have a great relationship with. I was already clearly uncomfortable and you just had to go and make it so much worse by mentioning her. I mean I obviously assumed she'd be really easy but to throw that in my face and try to use it as a reason why I should sleep with you, really? I don't care how fucking drunk you were.”

He looked down and I actually felt kind of bad for a second about being so harsh. As much as we both knew he deserved it, I knew how much it hurt him and I hated doing that to him.

“Ryleigh, I don't know what else to say to try to make it up to you other than I'm so sorry and I couldn't even imagine doing anything to ever hurt you like that again,” I looked up into his eyes and saw how sincere he was. I couldn't even try to be upset with him anymore, as much as I still wasn't entirely ready to forgive him. I just leaned forward to hug him and held onto him with no intentions of letting go anytime soon.

Until I looked over and saw the Reese's again, “Zacky, what's with the Reese's?”

“They're for you. I know they're your favorite,” he smiled at me.

“You're amazing. I'm sorry about slapping you so hard,” I said, looking back up at him.

“Don't be. I deserved it.” He stayed with me for awhile before deciding he had to get home. No more than five minutes after Zacky left, Brian walked into my room.

“You don't knock anymore?” I asked looking up at him from my computer.

“Zacky left,” he said sounding annoyed while still standing in my doorway.

“I could still be naked. You don't know,” I said sarcastically.

“Why didn't you tell me about what happened with Zacky?” he changed the topic quickly, now fully entering my room and closing the door.

“I didn't want you to get pissed off at him and I had already talked to Val about it. I just figured it would be better hearing it come from your confused best friend rather than your upset little sister. I already had Val and Sam offering to kick his ass, I didn't need you actually doing it,” I explained as he walked away from the door to sit on my bed.

“Yeah, I guess I would've been pretty pissed off at him. I mean I was still pissed when he told me but probably not as much as if you told me,” he realized and lowered his head. “I did still give him a piece of my mind though.”

My eyes widened and I hesitantly asked, “what did you do?”

“Well it didn't seem like he wanted to tell me but I knew something was up and I had to get it out of him. He finally told me and looked terrified the entire time but I managed to stay calm while he told me. Though, when he was done,” he trailed off and looked away.

“What did you do?” I asked nervously.

“Oh, nothing bad. I just yelled. a lot. Never knew it was possible to get that mad at my best friend,” he said still not able to look at me.

“Damnit, I should've known dating him was a bad idea, I didn't want anything to happen between you guys. You've been friends for so long, I've only been going out with him for two weeks and look what's already happened,” I said putting my face in my hands.

“Shut up, Ry, none of this has to do with you and nothing is your fault. He knew what he was getting himself into and still acted like a fucking dumbass. Everything that happened is because of his own stupidity and he's lucky he only get yelled at by me. He's also very lucky he only got talked to by Matt and Jimmy was too preoccupied at the time to do anything also because you're like their little sister too,” he explained standing up and starting to pace in front me. I smiled at the mention of Matt and Jimmy thinking of me like a sister too. Like they actually cared about me instead of just looking at me like their best friends annoying little sister, because I always looked up to them even though they weren't that much older and weren't the greatest influences but that didn't matter.

“I mean we still can knock some sense into him if he needs it,” he continued, finally calming down and taking a seat back on my bed.

“Don't worry about it, Brian, we already took care of it, we're okay,” I said making sure he knew I was okay so he would feel better about not doing anything because he didn't know right away. “Thanks, though.”

“Alright, but if he ever does anything to hurt you again, let me know,” he said standing back up.

I laughed and responded with, “Don't worry, I'll let you know.”

Just before he opened my door, he turned back to me and said, “I am proud of you though, Ryleigh.”

So, I wrote and re-wrote this chapter like three or four times to try to get it good I'm still a little unsure of how it came out so let me know what you think. And as always thank you to *Nothing but Fiction*, Hallie Vengeance, and WishxOnxAxStar for reviewing =)
