It's Going Down
The rest of the week and the next went by surprisingly quick and before I knew it we were off to
regionals. I hadn't had any further problems with Amy and we had actually been talking more at
practice than we usually had. Zacky, Sam, Brian and I had been pretty much inseparable. When our
practice times didn't clash, Sam and I would go with Val to watch the guys band practices.
Today was the day and while I didn't have any current problems with teammates, there was more
pressure to actually do good. If we were one of the top two teams we would be going to nationals.
All of our friends came out to support us again, which we greatly appreciated. Today was going to be
a much longer day than our other competition but they were still willing to come. And again, like
usual we were one of the last teams to go on.
I don't know how we managed to pull it off again but we placed second meaning we were going to
nationals. I never thought that would be possible, judges always seemed to hate us for some reason.
It never made sense.
After the competition everyone came back to my house to hang out. After awhile Brian called
attention to the room that had previously been filled with music and everyone talking. “Hey,
guys. I just got an idea,” the whole group stopped what they were doing to look at him.
“We should take a trip for the weekend after thanksgiving. It's the weekend between the two
weeks we'll barely get to see Sam and Ry and at all.”
“Why won't we be able to see them for two weeks,” Johnny asked.
“The Monday and Tuesday before thanksgiving we have like six hour practices to practice for
pep rally with the football players. Then, Wednesday is pep rally and Wednesday night we have a team
dinner and sleepover before the thanksgiving game Thursday. That is the end of the football season
but the week after that we'll most likely be practicing 24/7 for nationals. The three days after
thanksgiving will be our only days off in those two weeks,” Sam explained.
“Team sleepover?” Johnny questioned raising his eyebrows. Everyone ignored him.
“I think it sounds like a great idea. Where should we go?” I asked excitedly. This was
probably the best idea my brother ever had.
“My parents have a house up on Manhattan Beach we could totally use it for the
weekend,” Sam offered.
“This is gonna be fucking awesome!” Jimmy shouted.
“Do you really think our parents are going to let us go away for the weekend?” Val
asked, always the voice of reason.
“I don't see why not I mean we're seniors they probably won't even care. Well, Johnny may be
the only one with an issue,” Matt said punching Johnny in the arm.
“Nah, they probably won't care either. I'm not worried about it.”
“Well it's settled then,” Brian spoke again. “Sam, you're in charge of the house.
Jim, you're in charge of the booze.”
“How long is it until this weekend?” Zacky asked.
“Two weeks!” Sam and I said in unison. I wish we could fast forward to that weekend.
Thanksgiving week was pretty much a nightmare.
We all got through the first week fine. Once the Monday before thanksgiving hit though, Sam and I
pretty much wanted to kill everyone. She came over Tuesday night after practice because we still had
to make our three posters each for pep rally. She was also staying the night because we had to be at
the school at six in the morning to set up.
“I love that all the other flyers are jealous that Jake Harris is your back spot for those
stunts just because he has to grab your ass,” Sam laughed as we walked in the kitchen to look
for food to eat while we worked on the posters.
“I know. He isn't even that attractive I don't get it.”
Just then, Zacky slammed the refrigerator door shut and looked at us. It actually scared me because
I didn't notice he was standing there. “Why is the quarter back of the football team grabbing
your ass?” He asked suspiciously.
“Oh, it's nothing. We're doing one legged stunts with the guys and for those the back spotter
has to grab the flyer's ass to help get them in the air,” I explained to him. It really wasn't
a big deal.
“It's nothing?” he asked sarcastically.
“Yeah, that's how you do the stunt. You've seen Sam do it to me at the competitions,” I
said walking over to where he was still standing in front of the refrigerator holding two bottles of
“Yeah, Sam's fine but him?” he sounded offended and moved away from.
“Zacky, what's wrong? Are you jealous?” I smirked.
“No,” he snapped before walking over to me. He put the water bottles down on the
counter behind me and grabbed me around the waist. “I just don't want anyone else touching
you,” he smiled down at me. Sam cleared her throat, “except Sam,” he said before
leaning down to kiss me.
“I hate to break this up again I feel like I always do this but I'm starving. One piece of
pizza during our break at practice was not enough and we have tons of work to do and very little
sleep to get before tomorrow,” Sam said impatiently.
Zacky looked down at me and I saw in his eyes that he was hoping i'd say we didn't have tons of
stuff to do. “Sorry, babe, but the posters are going to probably take at least two hours and
we have to go to bed right after,” I said sympathetically before grabbing the back of his neck
to pull him into a kiss. “I'll see you tomorrow after school?”
“Yeah, we won't be there. We're all skipping because there's really no point in going to
school for a half day where we're not going to do anything in class and then go to a stupid pep
rally that only the jocks and preps care about,” he said picking the two water bottles back up
and starting to walk out of the kitchen.
“Wow, we sure feel the love Zacky, thanks,” Sam called to him before he ran up the
stairs to Brian's room. Sam then looked to me and said, “you ready for this?”
“Nope, never have been. So glad this is the last time we have to do this,” I admitted.
Sorry this chapter's kinda short and its kind of a filler but I hope you like it.
