Know Your Enemy
By AmandA7X

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I asked Sam, once we were on the bus. We sat in a seat closer to the front to avoid being in the middle of all the screaming. She just laughed. “This is not funny. I was very close to forgetting the entire routine as we walked out and I felt so fucking guilty I could barely see straight. This is a big problem.”

“Well, the good thing is you didn't forget and were actually amazing and we got 2nd place. As for dinner, just try not to pay attention to them it'll be fine,” she said pulling me into a hug.

When we got back to the school we found the guys by their cars. “Ryleigh, Kay had to leave, she wanted me to let you know,” I nodded. They had also dropped Johnny off at his house on their way back. “We're gonna have to take two cars. I'll take mine, who else wants to drive?” my brother said looking to the other three guys.

Zacky was the first to respond, “I Will.” Zacky and Amy went in the direction of Zacky's car while Brian, Sam, Matt and Val headed towards Brian's. I looked over at Jimmy and then started in the direction of Brian's car.

I didn't make it far before Jimmy grabbed my arm and said, “there is no way you are leaving me alone with them,” as he pulled me in the direction of Zacky's car. I punched Jimmy in the arm before climbing into the car behind Zacky. The drive to the restaurant was almost silent, just Amy and Zacky talking quietly while Jimmy and I were having an argument with our eyes in the backseat.

The others had beaten us to the restaurant and had already been seated by the time we got there. We were at a table of eight and the other four had taken one side. It went Sam, Brian, Val, and Matt. I reached the table first taking a seat across from Sam and Jimmy was behind me, taking the seat on the other end across from Matt. I looked at Sam like, “you've got to be kidding me,” as I looked over to see Zacky taking a seat next to me. I hoped it was just as awkward for him having to sit between Amy and I as it had been for me all day.

“So, what was your name I don't think we've ever met,” I looked up from my menu to see Amy had said that to Val.

Val glared at Amy over the top of her menu. She lowered it slightly and said, “I'm Val and I know you're Amy because we have met.”

Amy's eyes went wide and she quickly looked over to Zacky and tried to whisper, “what's her problem?” She failed at whispering it because almost everyone at the table heard her, including Val.

“I don't have a problem I just hate cheerleaders,” Val snapped. I looked at Sam and we both knew this wasn't going to end well.

Amy looked offended, and looked down at Sam and I before turning back to Val and saying, “you like them.”

“Yeah, because they're special and it turns out they aren't bitches like all the other ones like you are.”

“Val,” Zacky yelled and shook his head at her, but it was too late, Amy had already gotten up and walked away. Zacky got up to follow her and as he passed me I grabbed his arm. He stopped, turned and glared at me before ripping his arm out of my hand and walking away.

“Val, I kind of love you for that,” I said laughing a few minutes after they left. “I can't say stuff like that around her, we still have to be civil.”

“Anytime you need me to say something let me know,” she smiled.

A few minutes later our waitress came by to take our orders and Amy and Zacky still hadn't come back. Matt looked around to everyone before saying, “Do you think they left completely?”

“Yeah, probably,” Val said like it was obvious. Other than Val and Amy's little argument, the rest of the night was enjoyable. When we went to leave, though, we realized we now only had one car.

“Val can just sit on my lap,” Matt said as we reached the car.

“No, she can't,” Val said. “You barely fit in the backseat cause you're too tall to begin with that would be far too uncomfortable. Ryleigh can sit on my lap.”

“Yeah. I figured It'd be me,” I said as I noticed I hadn't changed into my warm-up pants after the competition. “Let me just put my warm-up pants on so my ass isn't right on you,” I said, then I realized my bag was is Zacky's car. “Fuck, my bag is in Zack's car.”

“That's okay, Val likes it,” Matt said with an evil grin on his face.

Val punched him in the arm as she, Sam and I all said, “perv,” in unison. Brian and Jimmy laughed.

“Here, they'll be big on you but at least it's something,” Sam said, pulling her warm-up pants out of her bag and throwing them to me.

When we got home I took Brian's phone and sent Zacky a text that said, “Hey Z, it's Ryleigh. I hope every thing's okay I just wanted to let you know I left my bag in your car.” It didn't take long for him to respond with, “Yeah every thing's fine. Bri's coming over later I'll give your bag to him.”
