When we got home Brian asked if I would be okay getting to my room and I told him I was fine and to stop worrying about me. Then when we got in the house he told me he would explain what happened at the game to our dad so I didn't have to later. When I got up to my room I changed into shorts and a tank top and crawled into bed, I'd probably be asleep before Sam even got here. But not long after that I heard a knock on my door and I looked up to see her walking in. She threw her bag in the corner of my room, took off her shoes and crawled into bed next to me.

“How are you doing?” she asked rubbing my head.

I laughed and responded with, “much better now.”

“God, I can't even believe they dropped you, like seriously? Who sneezes? And what was up with Zacky?” she curled up into the blankets on my bed.

“I have no idea one minutes he's telling me he wanted to talk to me cause he hasn't really in awhile and he said he was going to come see me this weekend and he seems all concerned when I fell then when I ask him about it he's acting like he doesn't care at all. I have no idea,” I told her, half slurred from fighting sleep so I could talk to her.

“Wait he's supposed to be coming over here this weekend to see you,” she asked excitedly. I was facing the wall but I could feel her sitting up to look at me.

“Yeah, he said he wanted to talk to me,” I said trying so hard to keep my eyes open.

“I'm sorry, you're tired, I'll let you sleep,” she laid back down and I was asleep before I could even respond.

I was woken up later when I heard another knock on my door but I was still too tired to move. I pulled my phone out from under my pillow and noticed that only about an hour had gone by since I fell asleep. I noticed my door open and felt Sam sit up.

“Sam?” I heard what sounded like my brother ask. “You awake?”

“Yeah, what's up?” she answered quietly.

“Is Ry asleep?” he whispered.

“Yeah, she passed out like an hour ago,” she sat up fully and sat indian style next to me and pulled the blankets closer to herself.

“Okay, I wanted to talk to you because I told Ry something this morning and knowing her I'm sure she tried not to tell you but she did,” he still talked in a hushed voice, and I felt him sit on my bed in front of Sam.

“Yeah, she did tell me,” Sam laughed.

“I didn't want to say anything before because I didn't want to make things weird between you and Ry or me and Ry but then she told me about Zacky and I didn't care so I didn't think she would so I told her and now I'm telling you,” he rushed the last part and I really wanted to laugh at him.

“And having this conversation on her bed with her right here isn't a little weird?” she asked.

“Well, she's asleep,” why was he so stupid? “Look, I don't know if you,” he paused. “Okay, well...” he couldn't find the words he wanted to say.

“Brian,” Sam interrupted him. “Are you trying to ask me out?”

“Yes.” he paused again. “So, will you?”

She laughed and answered, “Yes. But, I don't want to tell Ry yet.”

“Why?”

“I don't know. You know how she is plus I think Zacky's messing with her head and now she has brain damage on top of it, she's just got a lot on her plate right now,” she explained.

This time he laughed, “yeah, you've got a point there. Come here for a minute.” I felt him stand up, followed by Sam standing up and they walked out the door shutting it behind them.

Once the door was shut I sat straight up in bed. “What the fuck just happened?” I said under my breath. I remained sitting up until I heard Sam laugh and saw movement under the door and I quickly laid back down pretending to be asleep again. Sam re-entered the room quietly and got back into bed. Despite what just happened, I was able to fall back to sleep shortly after Sam returned.

When I woke up I noticed Sam was not next to me. I rolled over to look at the clock an winced at the pain in my right shoulder. The clock read 12:37, how did I sleep for so long? I figured Sam probably had to be somewhere so she left, but then I noticed her bag still in the corner of my room. I stayed in bed just staring up at my ceiling when I heard Sam's laugh. I couldn't tell where it was coming from until I pressed myself against the wall separating mine and Brian's rooms. Were they really planning on keeping this from me?

I decided I was going to go over to Brian's room, they'd have to say something then, right? When I opened my door I stood face to face with Zacky who had just raised his hand to knock on my door. “What are you doing here,” I half yelled because he scared me.

“I told you I was going to come see you this weekend,” he said looking down and then back up at me. I moved out of the way so he could walk into my room, and I shut the door behind him. He walked over and sat in my computer chair and I went back to sitting on my bed.

“So, why did you decide you wanted to come see me this weekend?” I asked moving so I was sitting up against the wall.

“I don't know, we don't hang out much,” he said looking at the ground while spinning side to side in the chair.

“Because you are my brothers friend, not mine?” I suggested.

“I don't see why we can't be friends also,” he said finally looking up at me.

“I don't know, Z, this just seems so random all of a sudden and you we're acting really weird last night,” I told him, playing with the sheets on my bed.

“What do you mean,” his tone sounded harsher than I think he meant it to.

“I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I mean,” I looked back up at him and he looked away.

“Okay, so maybe last night was a little weird, but can we just forget about that?” he started spinning in the chair again.

“Oh, trust me I'm already trying to forget about it,” I mumbled slightly.

“Amy's really sorry about that she feels awful,” he rushed trying to defend her.

“I know, Zack. Don't apologize for her, shit happens. I'm over it,” I told him as I moved back to sit on the edge of my bed.

“Do you not like her?” he asked quietly.

“It's not that I don't like her, she's nice, I don't mind her, but I honestly I don't see what she has to do with your being here right now,” I said standing up and starting to raise my voice.

“She doesn't,” he lowered his head and it was almost hard to hear what he said.

“You know what, I get where you're coming from trying to befriend your best friends little sister but I don't think it's the best idea right now,” I told him and he stood up and walked towards me so we were about a foot apart.

“So, you say right now isn't a good time but in the future?” he asked smiling down at me.

I couldn't help but smile back and say, “yes, definitely.” He held out his arms for a hug and I couldn't resist the offer. The hug didn't last long but I so badly wished I hadn't done it. It felt so good to be in his arms, so right, just standing there taking in his amazing smell. Then he was gone, out the door, with just a small wave. I collapsed backwards onto my bed and ran my hands over my face. Then I heard a knock on Brian's door and not long after that Sam came back into my room.

“Oh, hey you're awake! How do you feel?” she said excitedly as she came over and sat on the edge of my bed.

“I feel fine,” I answered flatly. “Where were you?”

“Oh, I was just in the bathroom,” she said without hesitation. So, she's going to lie to me?

“Hey, I'm sorry but I have to go,” she said standing up and walking over to grab her bag.

“Don't worry about it. I'm probably not going to do much today anyway, I have to avoid any further head trauma for awhile,” I told her while I just stared at the ceiling.

“I will se you later, I promise. Take care of yourself,” she said as she came over and kissed my forehead and left my room.
