Truth or Consequence
By AmandA7X

It didn't take long at all to get home. I actually wish it took longer. As I walked up the drive way and up the stairs to the door, I was looking down at my iPod and not where I was going. I went to open the door and step into the house but tripped due to me not expecting the door to already be open. I fell into the person who was opening the door. As they caught me and helped me stand up straight I looked up to see who else but Zacky. Of course. I just happen to be sweaty and gross from practice and running home.

“Oh, crap, sorry I wasn't expecting the door to be open. I wasn't paying attention,” I rushed as I stepped out of his grasp.

He laughed a little and said, “Don't worry about it Ry.” He walked passed me and out the door. I turned around as he turned to shut the door behind himself and he looked up at me and smiled and winked before shutting the door.

I then turned back around and fell on the floor with my bag beside me and my iPod sliding down the hall. Just then, my brother walked out of the kitchen and picked up my iPod while walking towards me.

“What was that all about,” he asked, dropping my iPod onto my back.

“What was what about?” I asked him with my face buried in the floor.

“Zacky was leaving, I heard your weird squeal thing you do when you get hurt and I come out to see Zacky winking at you and you falling on the floor. Explanation?” I turned to look up at his confused yet concerned face, my iPod sliding off my back.

“I tripped walking in the house as he was walking out and I fell into him,” I told him finally sitting up and shoving my iPod into by bag.

“Yeah, okay,” he said rolling his eyes as he walked by me and up the stairs.

“Fuck,” I sighed falling back into a lying position on the floor. I know I'm not always so subtle about it, but Brian is usually so oblivious to it. I really hope he wasn't starting to catch on to my crush on Zacky.

I finally was able to pick myself up off the floor and go up to my room. I called Sam to express my worries about my brother possibly figuring it out.

“Wait, what? Slow down what happened?” Sam asked after I tried telling her what happened earlier over the phone.

“Ugh, I fell into Zacky all freakin sweaty and gross and as he walked out the door he turned around and smiled and winked at me and I fell on the floor and basically died. Well, Brian saw him do that and my expression as I fell on the floor and I think he suspects that I like Zacky,” I explained as I pouted and sat on my bed.

“Well we both know your brother is not the brightest crayon in the box but even if he does figure it out would it really be that bad?”

“Yes, Zacky's his best friend there's no way he would be okay with it. Plus, he'd probably tell Zacky and,” she cut me off.

“And your life would be miserable? What are you like four?”

“Yeah,” I sighed.

She laughed, “at least you're honest.”

“I just wish I could forget about him, I really do. Like why does it have to be my brothers best friend?” I complained lying down on my bed.

“I don't know Ry,” she wasn't always the most helpful.

“And why her? Like honestly I don't get it. She's all girly and fucking captain of the cheerleading team and he friggen wears all black and he's in a band and they just don't look right together,” I practically screamed into the phone.

“Yeah, you do actually have a point there.”

“I should go take a shower I just needed to get that out,” I told her sitting up and looking at the clock to see what time it was.

“So are we forgetting about your brothers suspicions now?”

“I don't even know, I guess I can just deal with that later,” I said, now standing up and starting to pace my room.

“Alright, well let me know if anything comes up.”

“I will. I'll talk to you later.”

“Okay, bye.”

“Bye.” I hit end on my phone and threw it on my bed and looked around my room for clean clothes. After gathering my clothes I headed out of my room to the bathroom but stopped when I opened my door to see my brother staring at me.

“Can I help you?” I asked, not wanting to deal with him right now, just wanting to shower.

“What were you screaming about when you were on the phone?” I froze. He had heard my conversation.

“Uhm, nothing...” I was hoping he just heard me, and didn't actually make out what I was saying.

“Why did I hear my name and Zacky's name multiple times?” he stood not moving in front of me with his arms crossed.

“You didn't?” I really need to learn to talk quieter.

“You're into Zacky?” he finally asked.

I didn't answer him. I walked back over to my bed, grabbed my phone and pushed past him into the hallway and into the bathroom. I quickly sent Sam a text that said, “I'm an idiot. He heard me talking to you about it.” Then I took a long, cold shower, not wanting to leave the bathroom in fear of facing Brian. Luckily, when I decided I had spent enough time in the bathroom, he was nowhere to be seen.

I stayed in my room with the door locked for the rest of the night, but halfway through, he sent me a text that said, “you can't avoid me forever.”

“Seriously?!” I screamed at the wall separating our rooms. Then I heard him laugh.
