Feeling at Home
I woke up the next morning to the amazing aroma of bacon. I stretched myself, hearing the usual
cracks, and realized that I was alone. I sat up and looked at the empty spot next to me and saw a
Gina and I went to your hotel room
to grab you some clean clothes.
That was so awesome of them. I looked down at my sleeping attire; small shorts and an old shirt of
Warren's. Yup, fresh clothes would be nice. I walked into the nearest bathroom, washed my face and
fixed my hair so I didn't look like a total mess. I walked down stairs and was greeted with a hug
“Mornin sleepy head.” She grinned as she pulled away from our hug.
“Morning.” I yawned out. I felt another set of arms around me from her husband. I looked
up at his face and smiled.
“You feeling better sweetie?” He asked as he released me from the hug.
“Much, thanks.” I walked into the kitchen and hugged my brother from behind.
“Thanks again for last night.”
“No problem. I was really glad, I like that you trust me enough to let me help you.”
“You're one of the few people in my life I fully trust.” I told him truthfully. Then it
hit me, I never told them what had happened to me when I was younger. How did he know about my
foster dad? I didn't even tell him last night; I just told him that I had a bad dream about a guy
being in my room. How did he and Brian know?
“You still with us?” Zacky's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked around the
kitchen and saw Zacky, Shadows, Val, Lacey, Johnny, and the Berry twins staring at me.
“Uh- yeah. Um can I ask you something?”
“Sure what is it?” he looked at the others as they walked out giving us some privacy.
“How did you know who I was talking about last night? I never told you about that.” I
asked biting my bottom lip. He put down the spatula and turned to face me. Oh crap, I hope he's not
pissed at me.
“I know because I met your social worker Anita. She told me what happened.” I felt a
sudden feeling of shame. When ever someone found out about that they felt as though they had to act
differently around me.
“But, know that it doesn't change anything. Its in the past, and it wasn't your fault.”
He said probably reading my facial expressions.
“Well, everyone.” At least he was honest, but then I realized that no one had said
anything or acted weird towards me. I shrugged it off knowing that if I dwelt on it I'd psyche
myself out. I just smiled and hugged him again.
“Thanks for everything, Zee-zee.” I said and noticed his face scowl at my new nickname
for him. Ha! An eye for an eye!
“We're back!” I heard Gina announce as she walked through the door. YAY! Fresh clothes.
“And we brought some of your favorite things!” she said as I walked out of the kitchen
and learned what she was talking about. Ali, Amy, Bremen and Elliot lunged towards me and attacked
me with hugs.
“Where were you?” Elliot asked.
“We were so worried when we cam in and you weren't there!” Ali said loudly in my ear.
“Next time text us so we know you're ok!” Amy said while slapping my shoulder.
Ouch… Bremen just hugged me letting everyone else do the talking. They finally pulled away
allowing me to speak and breathe for that matter.
“Ok, had a nightmare, called Zacky, he let me stay here, I will next time…” I
blurted out trying to answer all of their questions. I looked over at my brother and the rest of the
guys and girls, they were all either laughing or had aww looks on their faces. Introductions,
“Oh, so Zacky and Brian you guys have met-”
“And Gina!” piped in Bremen.
“Oh yes, and Gina, but this is Matt, his wife Val, Johnny and his girlfriend Lacey, Mike and
his wife Marlene, Matt and JB Berry.” I said gesturing towards them. “And this is Ali,
Amy, Elliot and Bremen. I've known them almost my whole life. Ali I met a couple months ago, but it
feels like forever.” I said with a smile. They all waved at each other and mingled. I was
happy that my friends weren't freaking out and that both groups were now one in the same. Gina
walked over to me and handed me a small bag with an outfit in it.
“Thank you so much for doing that. You didn't have to.” I said and tightly hugged her.
“Hey, what are big sisters for?” she has been introducing me to people as her little
sister, something that I got used to real fast and greatly appreciated. I walked back up to the
guest room and quickly threw on what she had brought me. I put on my red t-shirt that said
in black letters, a pair of black short denim shorts, red chucks, and my black bullet belt. Wow, she
picked an awesome outfit. She even brought me some of my black and red rubber bracelets, she is the
best. I pulled my hair into a tight ponytail and opened the door to walk down stairs only to be
greeted by Brian.
“Hey there.” I said with a smile.
“Hey, you ok?” he asked as he pulled me into a hug.
“Yes sir! Thanks for sleeping by me last night.” I said quietly. He just turned my head
towards his and placed a small but sweet kiss on my lips. Wow, I didn't deserve him. I felt him
smile into the kiss and gently run his tongue across my lips, so I did as he pleaded and granted him
“Ahem” we both jumped at the sound of a third person present. We looked over at Gina who
was trying to muffle her laughter. I felt myself blush and burry my head into Brian's chest.
“May I steal Dyllan for a second?”
“Sure. See you in a few.” He said and kissed my forehead. Gina walked into my room
gesturing for me to follow her. She sat down on the bed and patted the spot next to her. I sat down
and looked at her eyes trying to read what she was feeling.
“I was talking with Zacky while you were getting dressed.” Oh shit, what did I do?
“When I went to your hotel room today I couldn't help but feel a little upset.” Wait,
why would she be so mad? Did I leave something offensive out? Not that I own anything like that.
“I hate the fact that you have to live in that hotel room alone. So I was wondering if you'd
want to live with us? This could be your room, but if you don't want to we completely
understand!” I felt a small weight lift from my chest.
“I would love to! I can pay rent, I work at the hotel so I can afford to pay you guys.”
I said not wanting to be a moocher. She just laughed.
“No rent required, we just want you here with us.” She smiled and reached over and
pulled me into a hug.
“And don't worry about your friends, they are more then welcome to come over any time!”
She said into my hair.
“Thank you so much!” I was finally getting the family I needed and wanted growing up.
