Rubber Octopus
By Blkwidow77

Here is my contribution for Valentine's Day.

Yet another of my romantic Misadventures... *sigh*

Rubber Octopus

I have been coming to

This same place to eat

For a long time now

Far too long, if you ask me

Not really because of the atmosphere

Though the plastic replicas

Of Chinese red lamps

And poorly painted gold Buddas

They don't do much for me

Nor is it due to the steamy food

Though I will say

The spicy rubber octopus

Always calls my vapid attention

Mostly I come around

...Just for him

This particular waiter...

I'd be hard pressed

To tell you why

After all, he is NOT my type

I don't go for guys

Who aren't taller then me

Or so thin that I look like

A beached whale next to them

But I guess there's

Just something about the way

He always trips on the red rug

Some time between when I'm eating

The green beans with black sauce

And the drippy Won Ton soup

Not to say that that impresses me

But he always looks over

Like I'm the witness of all his faults

Really far too helpless...

For a guy

So I shouldn't even notice him

But when he smiles at any other female

Some OTHER table he's serving

I have to physically restrain myself

From viciously ripping

Her eyes from their sockets

And when I smile at his frustration

As he pushes his stubborn black hair back

That perpetually falls into his eyes

I realize it's sometimes best

To admit defeat among the dusty silk flowers...

Please feel free to critique as you please...

I'd love to know if you can picture this whole thing perfectly, or if you're just lost....
