Reliving old memories and making new friends
By ghostwriter

A/N: Hey guys, I have nothing against Lacey and Val! Thanks for the reviews!! R&R!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Val's POV

-----------------

I sat in the kitchen and watched Brian storm out. Why was he being so defensive?

“Zacky, we're just really worried about you!” Lacey said snapping me out of my thoughts.

“I know, and I appreciate it, but you need to trust me on this.”

“Zack, why is Brian so up tight about this? He seemed so pissed just now.” I was really trying to understand. I mean, she seems nice, but so did the other one…

“Because, she's literally been to hell and back.” I looked over at Gina. “She was never really shown love from a parent figure, and the ones that were supposed to help and protect her… well lets just say that her foster dad is a sick man.” as Gina said this a saw a hint of anger and sadness in both her and Zacky's eyes.

Oh hell, something terrible happened to this girl, and Lacey and I didn't exactly treat her the best. Great, I feel like a jerk. I looked over at Lacey who was wearing almost the same expression as me.

“Plus,” Zacky said, causing me to turn my attention to him, “I tried buying her stuff, trying to help her payoff some loans, and she just graciously declined and said that money isn't important. She said something that really touched me; she told me that she wants to get to know Zacky Baker and not Zacky Vengeance.” I could see a small twinkle in his eyes as he recalled the memory. They walked out and I heard Zacky say something about a note being left. I turned to Lacey and said “We need to start over with Dyllan, we owe it to Zacky.”

“I was thinking the same thing.”

We went out and rejoined the group on the couches, Zacky being the worrywart that he is called Syn to see what was taking them so long. Soon after he hung up they came through the door. We were all surprised to see the both of them holding hands, but secretly relieved that Syn was able to move on. We all chatted again, but soon I noticed that Dyllan was nowhere to be found.

“Did you see where Dyllan went?” I asked Lacey, she nodded and pointed to the back porch. I looked at Lacey and linked elbows with her, we both let out a deep breath, here it goes.

-------------------

Dyllan's POV

-------------------

I looked up at the two girls linked at the elbows. I thought about it, knowing that Zacky would love it if I could get along with all his friends.

“Um, yeah sure.” I answered them as they both pulled chairs in front of me, wow this felt like an interrogation all of the sudden.

“We're sorry if we seemed a little cold earlier, we are just really worried about Zacky, and all of the guys for that matter.” I held back from lashing out and just listened. “You see, this isn't the first time that a new girl has come into their lives. About a year ago, before Johnny met Lacey, a sweet girl had moved in nest to him and he befriended her. Long story short, she broke his heart and burned a hole in his wallet.” I nodded, starting to understand why they would be over protective. It made sense.

“When you see a friend go through something that hard it sucks.” Lacey added. “You feel completely helpless and wish there was some way you could've stopped it.” A feeling I knew all to damn well.

“I understand, and believe me, I know how it feels.” I felt another stupid tear run down my cheek, “The boy I loved killed himself…” I heard Lacey let out a small gasp. I began telling them the story, while reliving the nightmare in my head.

*Flashback*

“Hello?” I answered my phone groggily.

“Dyllan? Its Bremen.” I looked over at my alarm clock it was 2:17am.

“Bremy, what's wrong?”

“Is Amy there with you?”

“Duh, why? What aren't you telling me?” I heard him let out a few shaky breaths.

“Just put me on speaker phone and go wake her up, please?” I put down the phone and walked over to Amy's bed and gently shook her.

“Amy, sweetie, wake up.”

“Mmmmmmm…. Wha?”

“Come sit on my bed, Bremen's on the phone.” We both got up and sat on my bed, Amy laid her head on my lap. “Ok, Brems, what's wrong?” I heard his breath continue to shake, something wasn't right. I felt my heart beat faster.

“Elliot went to Warren's room this morning…and” I heard his breathing get short and faster.

“What is it, Bremen?” Amy says more awake now with fear in her voice. We both listened as Bremen started crying.

“Warren killed himself!”

“WHAT?!” Amy and I practically scream together. “No, no you're wrong. You have to be.” Amy says while crying. I felt as though my entire body went numb, it was as though someone had reached into my chest and mercilessly ripped it out.

“No, please tell me this is some sort of sick joke and Warren is right there trying not to laugh.” I blurted out, crying hysterically while cradling Amy in my arms.

“I wish…I wish. Elliot and I are on our way over to your dorm.”

“Ok” was all I could say, and then the line went dead. I was grateful that they were coming; we needed each other now more then ever.

“Why, Warren?” I asked in a whisper. What could I have done to prevent it? Was there anything I could have done?

*End of Flashback*

I still ask myself if there was anything that I could have done to save him. None of us saw it coming, he was so happy all the time. I felt a gentle hand on my knee; I looked up through teary eyes at Lacey and Val smiling at me, warmly this time. I felt a sense of relief. Embarrassed, I smiled, and rubbed the tears from my face. I took a deep breath,

“I promise you with everything I have, I'm not here to hurt anyone, take their money, or play them. I just want to get to know my brother and the people he loves, which is you guys.”

“We would love that.” Val said and gently squeezed my knee.

“Lets just put this shit behind us, sound good?” smiled Lacey. I nodded and stood up from my chair and felt Lacey and Val hug me at the same time. This was going to take some getting used to… They walked back in, but I decided to stay out just a little longer, enjoying the night air. I heard the sliding door open again; please don't be another untrusting soul. I felt an arm fall on my shoulders and looked over at my brother. It was still weird for me to say.

“Thanks” was all he said. I tilted my head with a confused look on my face.

“For what? I should be thanking you for everything.”

“I know that this must be hard on you, but I just wanted to thank you for making an effort to get to know everybody… Some more then others” he chuckled the last part. I assumed he was talking about Brian; things just went really fast I guess.

“Oh, um, if you don't want me to-”

“Stop right there.” He said cutting me off, o h shit please don't be mad. “I think it's cool that you like my best friend, and that he likes you back. He had a hard time getting over Michelle.” I smiled as he pulled me into a hug. We sat down, and I watched him as he pulled out a cigarette. He pointed the box in my direction offering me one; I just shook my head no.

“What happened between Brian and Michelle?” I asked breaking the silence.

“They just grew apart, it wasn't horrible or life crushing or anything like that. But, Brian took it pretty hard.”

“Sorry.” He just laughed at my response and took a long drag of his cigarette.

“What are you two doing out here hiding?” we both looked up at Gina, she just smiled and offered her hand to me. “Everyone is still waiting for their one on one chance with the famous Dyllan.” She pulled me up from my seat and we all walked back into their house. The rest of the night was pretty chill. I saw Gina, Lacey, and Val whispering and giggling in the corner of the room. I felt a little worried, then I felt a huge arm on my shoulders, what was it with these people and arm slinging? I looked up at the A&X front man, who was looking at me and smiling.

“Um…Should I be worried?” I asked and looked back at the corner of giggling girls.

“Don't worry honey, they're probably planning on taking you shopping sometime this week.” Er, shopping, something I was never a fan of nor good at. Amy and Ali can testify to that. “On second thought, you should be worried.” He laughed and pulled me into a tight hug. “Thanks for being real.”

“Real?” I asked confused.

“Well, we've been with Zacky since day one of his search for you. Some of us were beginning to think that you weren't real, even Zacky started losing hope. When he announced that he found you and you were coming over tonight, we were all really excited. You've become a little sister to all of us.” I tightened my arms around him and finally pulled away. I looked back at the girls and they were standing there with `oh how cute' expressions on their faces. I felt myself blush and walked over to Zacky. I pulled something out of my wallet and gave it to him.

“What's this babe?” He asked staring at the small card key.

“It's a key to my hotel room, I figured you should have one so you can stop by whenever.” I smiled at him hoping that he would become a permanent part of my life. He got up from the couch and hugged me. Again, I heard cooing from the rest of the crowd.
