How The Earth Formed
By Hanny Gates

This is a random story that I had to write for my science
class.... Haha...
I know... It's stupid... but I just feel like posting it just because it's here... :D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day a young man named Jimmy Sullivan came across a large machine. He had no clue what it did or
where it came from. He was anxious to test it out and find out the answers to all of the questions
that he had. He thought it would be better not to do it alone, so then when he tells everyone about
he'll have someone to back him up. So with this he called his buddy Johnny Seward.
Ten minutes later Johnny walked up to where Jimmy was standing by the machine and greeted his
friend.
"Okay! Let's do this!" Jimmy said, rubbing his hands together in excitement.
They then boarded the strange machine and the first thing that Johnny saw was a giant purple
button.
And well Johnny, being Johnny, decided to push it, even though he had no clue what it did.
As soon as the button was pushed, a large portal appeared in front of the two men and the force of
it pulled them in along with the machine, and it took them back to 4.5 billion years ago.
"Johnny! What did you do?!" Jimmy asked him, breathlessly. He looked around then and saw that there
was lava everywhere.
"I hit the pretty purple button." Johnny told him seriously.
"WHY?!" Jimmy yelled at him.
"Because it was pretty." He said in a small voice. Johnny didn't understand why Jimmy was so mad at
him. Well not until he looked at his surroundings and realized that they were surrounded by lava and
the only thing preventing them from being burned alive was the machine, in which the lava has no
effect upon.
He immediately started screaming and the portal reappeared, sucking them up only for them to be put
right back in the same place, but .1 billion years later when the earth was starting to cool.
"Hey! I think it's starting to cool down! It's not as hot as it was last time!" Jimmy exclaimed,
dancing around like a monkey, making Johnny laugh.
Of course the portal decides to come back at this time, and taking them to 4 billion years ago when
the earth was one big water world.
"Hope you can swim!" Jimmy yelled as Johnny looked around at the water that seemed greener than the
ocean that he usually saw in Huntington Beach.
"What?" Johnny turned around to see what his friend meant, only to be pushed into the water by a
laughing Jimmy.
He let out a yelp of surprise and the climbed back onto the machine, coughing out the water that had
gotten into his mouth.
``What do you think all this is?'' Johnny asked, glaring at Jimmy.
``I personally think that we are being shown how the earth came to be.''
``Are you crazy? I just think that I got hit over the head and laying somewhere unconscious.''
Johnny told him, and he truly believed it, just as Jimmy truly believed that they were being shown
how the earth was made.
``Oh crap. The portal's back.'' Jimmy told his friend. Johnny looked up and saw that it indeed was
and they were sucked up once again and was taken to the time in which granite and oceans started to
form, along with the earth's crust.
``Land!!!'' Johnny and Jimmy exclaimed in unison, both jumping out of the machine and laying on the
hard ground.
They sat there a little while longer and then the portal appeared again, to take them to the time
when the air cleared and the sea turned its rightful color, blue. And after that, they were taken to
what was called Rodinea.
Through out this time the earth was still cooling, and soon the earth was turned into snowball
earth, and of course the portal took both of the guys there to see for themselves.
``Why is it so COLD all of a sudden?'' Jimmy shivered and looked to over to Johnny, who was also
shivering.
``I don't know but I don't like it.'' Johnny said between clenched teeth.
As if the portal had heard him say that it appeared. It took them past the time where the earth
heats up and the ice melts and all of the complex life has come to when there is now other life on
earth like vegetation.
This whole adventure continued on, and they got to see Pangea and its separation, that came right
after the dinosaurs. They also go to find the first diamond and witness how the Grand Canyon came to
be. Then the first mammals came and soon after, the coldness came back.
``Are you serious?'' Johnny exclaimed to the portal. He started to shiver as did Jimmy.
After they spent their time in the ice age, the portal took them to only 10,000 years ago to when
the humans began to walk the earth.
They met all of the people of the beginning of time, and saw everything that there was to be seen of
how the earth came to be. The portal came and took them back to where Jimmy had first found the
strange machine. They were plopped back out onto the ground and then the portal was gone, along with
the machine.
Jimmy and Johnny glanced at each other with grins spread across their faces, and then ran off to
tell their three best friends, Matt, Brian, and Zack of their great adventures.
