~Prologue

“Ready?” My sister said. I nodded slowly. We looked at our house once more before heading out. We got in our car, and sped off. We were leaving for Huntington Beach, California. We were born there, and we were searching for any family left. Our parents had died in a horrible fire, set to our house, and we luckily escaped. They, however, were trapped. The house we had just seen for the last time, was barely standing. We had gone back for one last look, to remember. Sporting my Avenged Sevenfold hoodie, I got out of the car at the diner. We were making good time. Alice looked at me. “Damn, I'm hungry.” She smiled. I nodded.

“Do you think we'll find anyone?”

“Honestly?” I don't know. I hope we do. It'll be nice there. I promise.”

I wanted to believe her. But I was just so worried. How did we know we had family there? They could have moved! They could have fucken died too, for all we know!

“Do you think we'll see Avenged Sevenfold?”
“We could. They live there.” She smiled. I thought about how awesome it would be to see them, even just say hello to them.

“I hope you can get a job,” She said, “hairstylists aren't hiring good.”
“But I'm awesome at it,” I grinned. She smiled back. “True.”

We ordered our hamburgers and sodas. We ate quickly, paid, and left. We got back into the car, and we switched. I drove, she slept. I looked at the directions we printed out from Map Quest, and stopped around Los Angeles. I woke her up, and we got an overnight back ready. We went in, got a room, and went to bed. We woke up around 9:15 in the morning, and left early. We got there soon after. We talked quietly, while getting our Pjs on.

“Jess, do you think we should do this?” my sister asked me before we went to bed.

“I honestly don't know.” I said, “but we better make the best of it. We have no one else in Chicago.”
