By Jet Margera
Thunder rumbled over head above Grimmauld Place, people stirred in their beds and the sound of a
door closing down stair was to be heard. It was quiet even the portrait of Mrs Black did not hear
the quiet click of the door. Footsteps moved downstairs towards the kitchen.
The scurrying sound of kreatcher moving out of the way of the visitor was also to be heard and even
though this was the softest sound of all those made since the door had shut, Harry Potter awoke with
a start. He listened to the footsteps moving around the kitchen, even though he was three floors
above it he could distinctly make out the sound of a chair being dragged along the floor for someone
to sit down.
He sat up and listened closer, there was definitely someone down there. "Ron" he whispered "Ron"
Ron groaned and rolled over, his back now to Harry.
"Ron" Harry said again this time more loudly
"what" said Ron sleepily, although not making any effort to keep his voice down
"shhh" said Harry bringing a finger to his lips "can you hear that?"
"hear what?" questioned Ron
"listen" said Harry
Ron listened to the sounds down stairs, faint foot steps and the occasional creaking of a chair.
"yeah, it's probably someone just going to get something to eat"
"no I heard them come in through the front door"
"no you didn't, they would've woken up Mrs Black anyway if it had been an intruder"
"I did Ron"
"well it's just one of the order coming in early"
Harry sighed, 'early, yeah, it's ten past two in the morning' he thought
Ron pulled the cover over his head and buried the side of his head in the pillow. It was evident he
was going back to sleep.
Harry listened to the sounds of the person three floors below him. They must have been making a lot
of noise for him to be able to hear them from such a long way away. He lay awake until three am the
noises downstairs had not ceased and the thought of knowing someone was down there made him feel
uneasy, he needed to know who, or what, it was down there.
He quietly swung his legs out of bed and grabbed his robes, as he picked them up his fathers old
invisibility cloak fell off his chest. He put the robes on over his pyjamas then the cloak over both
sets of clothing and slowly made his way out of his room and down stairs. As he reached the top of
the stairs that lead down to the basement where the kitchen was, he listened once again. No voices
just the odd flick of what sounded like a newspaper page.
He tiptoed down the stair and looked at the door which was ajar, he peered through the crack in the
door. What met his eyes was not what he had been expecting. He had half been expecting, a death
eater or even voldermort to be sitting at the table, rather than the figure that befell his eyes.
She was a young woman with long black hair and pale skin, beside her sat a steaming cup of tea which
she sipped as she read, which looked from Harry's position to be, the daily prophet.
Her hair, as already observed was black, and fell in loose ringlets across her red robed shoulders.
Her robes were very finely made, so she definitely was not one who lived in poverty.
During Harry's preoccupation with watching the woman, he had not heard another coming down the
stairs behind him and of course being wrapped up in his invisibility cloak the person trotting down
the stairs had not seen him and as she went to walk through the door she knocked straight into
Harry, who flew through the door. His invisibility cloak had obviously been stood on as it was
yanked off him as he fell.
"oh, Harry dear!" said the familiar voice of Molly Weasley "what are you doing, are you okay?"
She rushed over and helped Harry to pick himself up from the floor, what he was upright once again
she began dusting him down with her hands, "what are you doing down here at this time."
Harry said nothing but looked at the woman who was sitting back in her chair smiling a rather amused
smile and looking at Harry.
"Harry?" molly prompted
"oh I, uh. I just thought I heard something down here"
"that would've be me then" said the woman
"Oh Ryssa, Hello." Said Molly noticing her for the first time.
The woman, who was named Ryssa, gave a curt nod to molly and stood. She made her way over to Harry
smiling, "and you must be Harry Potter" she said extending her hand, "I'm Ryssa Canicula"
At first Harry just looked from her to her hand until, molly gave him a slight nudge and he took it.
This Ryssa had a firm hand shake, confident.
"I am a friend of your, god father's Harry" she said drawing her hand away and perching herself on
the edge of the table.
Harry's heart jumped, a friend of Sirius', this made him less anxious about the Woman's presence and
molly also knew her so she couldn't be the intruder he thought her to be. He wondered what she was
Almost as if she and been reading his mind, molly answered his question, "Ryssa is another member of
the order. She went to school with your mother and father"
Harry's heart jumped into his throat. She had known his mother and father. He sighed and all of a
sudden he did not want to look at her any more. Maybe it was out of jealously, the fact that she had
spent years at school, with them, been through things with them that many other hadn't but most of
all she had known them and had interacted with them while Harry, could barely remember them and he
was their own son. He did not want to be around her anymore, the anger and envy was building up
inside of him.
"I'm sorry I have to go" he said grabbing his invisibility cloak off of the floor and running out of
the door and up the stairs.
Ryssa bit her ruby red lip, "something we said?"
Molly smiled, "he's a bit troubled" she said quietly
Molly still smiling pulled the younger woman into a hug. "how are you" she asked
Ryssa wrapped her arms around Molly, "I'm fine, how are you?"
Molly pulled back, her hands on Ryssa's shoulders. "fine" she said looking at Ryssa, "you are
looking wonderful aren't you, now tell me if your job is taking it's toll on you because it
certainly does not seem that way"
Ryssa laughed, "no it's not stressing me out or anything, well not to much anyway." She smiled, she
had always gotten on well with Molly.
"you always have been a beautiful child"
A pinkish glow appeared in her pale cheeks, "Thank you" she said as modestly as possibly.
"right," said molly still smiling. "you've had a long journey and you need some rest, let me show
you to your room."
Ryssa smiled, and levitated her trunk.
Molly walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the hall way, she put a finger to her lips to
tell Ryssa to be quiet. Then began to lead her up the stairs to the 3rd floor.
