The phone rang out into the empty apartment. Once, twice, three more times before the answering machine picked up. The man making the call sighed, let out the long breath he'd been holding.

``Hey. I just…I wanted to talk to you…''

``I'm gay.'' He looked up to see his best friend gaping back at him.
``You…wha?''
``Gay, like, homosexual? I like dudes.''
``What?''
``Guys. You know, like chicks, but, without boobs…and with dicks.''
``…Oh.''
The older boy shook his head, laughing as he stood up and walked across his room.
``Is that all you're gonna say? `Oh'?''
``…Yeah.''
``…Alright.''

``…I miss you…''

``You just had to buy the leather pants.''
``Every gay man has to have at least one pair.''
``I don't even know what to say to that…''
``Then don't talk, just help,'' he demanded as he hopped around his room, wrestling with the article of clothing he'd wanted so desperately to wear that night.
``Dude, we're gonna be late! Why can't you just wear the damn things?''
``They won't close! They fit when I tried them on at the store, I must've gained weight since then.''
The younger of the two rolled his eyes and walked over to his friend before pushing him down on the bed. ``You push, I'll pull. Ready? …Go!''
``OWWWW!''

``…I just wish, we could, at least, be friends again…''

``Geez, did I look that stupid when you told me?''
``Um, I…whoa. Wow. Um…wow.''
``I guess you can catch it, eh?''
The taller turned and playfully slapped his best friend's shoulder.
``You know what you need now, right?''
The shorter shook his head, standing up and backing away with wide eyes. ``Oh no, hell no.''
``Mmhmm, leather pants!''

``…Not that I regret what happened…us….''

He pulled back, waiting for the slap across the face he knew he'd be receiving from his now soon to be ex-best friend. However, all he received was a shy grin and a peck on the cheek, before he grabbed his coat off the back of the couch and walked towards the door of the apartment.
``Pick me up at eight.'' And he left with a wink.

``…I'm so sorry…''

``Why?! Why would you do this to me?''
The taller man sighed, ran his hands through his hair. This was exactly what he was hoping to avoid. ``I didn't do anything wrong-''
``-but you knew how I felt! And you said…you said…'' he trailed off as he sat down, tears welling up in his eyes.
``I did say…that. But you pushed me away.''
``I didn't, mean to…''

``…I love you. Not in the way you want me too, but I do. Please, please call me back, Frank? …It's Gerard, by the way-but you knew that… I'll call back later. …Bye.''
