The Move

***Jen's POV***

“Sis!?” I heard my brother call from outside. I stuck my head out the apartment door towards his car and rose an eyebrow, questioningly.

“You rang?” I asked with a slight grin.

“Are you going to come out here and help, or do you plan on leaving us here to unload the car by ourselves?” My older brother asked me. I was about to answer when Al cut off my thoughts.

“Pat, you should know better then to give her an option! Get your ass over here!” She told me with a grin. I sighed as I stepped out into the sunlight that heated the large city of Montr?al. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that heated the city. It was absolutely freezing in Canada!

My best friend Ally and I had both managed to get into school here in Qu?bec. She would be attending McGill University, while I would be attending Dawson's College. We were both 21 and we were ready to rock the streets of Qu?bec while enjoying the great opportunities this country had to offer. My older brother, Pat had tagged along with us too, after receiving a job as a web designer for a local band. He was 26 and about as brotherly as one could get. Even though biologically, Alyssa wasn't family, Pat was about as protective over her as he was of me. If one of us were to bring home a guy Pat didn't like after his interrogation process, they would be out the door as fast as they came in. He was the kind of brother that loved to have fun…but knew when he needed to be serious or lend a shoulder to cry on. Together, we were best friends and we couldn't wait to get started on our new lives.

“Earth to Jen!” Ally broke me away from my thoughts as she snapped her fingers in front of my face.

“Are you taking your box or would you prefer me to drag it up the stairs for you?” She asked me, smiling sweetly.

“I've got a better idea…” I said with a grin as I took the box from her hands and headed back towards the apartment door that had been propped open. Pat and Al followed me inside towards the elevator; each of them carrying their own box of items. I lifted my foot and pressed the button with a large arrow directing upwards. Pat rose an eyebrow, uncertainly as the elevator arrived with a `ding'. The doors slid open and I stepped inside to place my box in the back corner of the elevator. Pat and Alyssa exchanged quick glances before following my lead.

We continued with this process for several minutes until we finally had loaded the elevator with all of our belongings.

“Beats carrying them up the stairs.” I noted as I pressed the `Floor 3' button within the elevator.

“Wait…aren't we going to ride the elevator up?” Pat questioned, watching the doors slide close. I rolled my eyes and rested my hands on my hips.

“Dude…for someone who's got an I.Q. of like… a trillion… you can sure be pretty clueless sometimes…” I told him as I lifted my hand to a yellow piece of paper taped next to the elevator door. On it in bold lettering told of the weight restrictions. He sighed and shook his head in disbelief.

“We better get going if we wanna meet the elevator…” Ally suggested. I nodded before jogging up the stairs.

***Ally's POV***

Panting for breath, I lifted my foot from the last stair to the third floor. Pat followed close behind me. Jen stood with her hands on her hips, looking impatient.

“Geez, it's about time you guys got here…” She said with a slight smirk.

The elevator doors had already slid open, as Jen entered to grab the first of her boxes. I entered next, followed by Pat. As we made our way down the hall to our new apartment, I allowed my eyes to wander around my surroundings. The walls had been panted a deep, plum, and were topped off with beige trim. Beautiful watercolour paintings hung from various spots on the walls, in between doors or above the staircases. I bumped into Jen as she stopped suddenly at what I was guessing was our room.

“Pat…hand me the key…” She said, trying to hold out her hand while balancing her box on the other. He dug into his back pocket and retrieved the key before handing it to his younger sister.

“Ugh… I don't even want to know where this thing has been…” Jen muttered, nauseated. I grinned.

“Or what it's been touching…” I added. She squealed as the door eased open with a turn of the handle. Pat laughed at the noise his sister had just made.

“That was attractive…” He noted, thoughtfully.

“Damn straight.” She replied as we entered our new home.

Setting down our boxes, we looked around the room, attempting to keep an open mind, just incase. Surprisingly, it wasn't all that horrible. The walls in here were painted a light peach. The floors were hardwood and a small fireplace rested against one of the far walls. Other then that, the place was empty.

“Well this is cozy…” Pat said, sounding slightly sarcastic. Jen and I glared at him beckoning him to shut his mouth.

“It will be much better once we give it our own little unique twist…” I assured him. He nodded, hoping I was right.

“C'mon, we've got two boxes left…” I told Jen as I brushed a stray piece of hair behind my ear. She sighed, tiredly.

“I want to sleep!” She exclaimed.

“On what? The kitchen counter?” Pat asked with a smirk.

“I call the bathtub!” I exclaimed quickly, shooting my hand up into the air. Pat grinned and shook his head in disbelief.

“I could fall asleep on the floor if you gave me five minutes…” She told us.

“Oh stop your tired-talk…it's ONE box…” I assured her, grabbing onto her arm and dragging her out into the hallway.

“I don't wanna come!” She protested, pulling back. I grinned.

“I think this box has your sleeping bag in it…” I told her thoughtfully.

With that comment, her eyes shot open as she lurched ahead of me and bee-lined it to the elevator. The grin that had formed on my face faded immediately when I heard a commotion from around the corner.

I jogged quickly to see what had made the loud crashing sound. Sliding around the corner, I saw Jen sitting on the floor, holding her arm, and a group of guys standing in front of her. I walked quickly up behind her.

“Jen...you are way too eager to get some sleep…” I told her with a slight grin. She glanced up at me before taking my extended hand. I helped her up from the ground and allowed my eyes to drift along the 5 guys in front of me.

“Looky, looky…we've got another fille…” one of the guys said, smirking. He looked to be about 5”8. His hair was as black as the night's sky, and his eyes were a milk-chocolate brown. A piercing glimmered on the middle of his bottom lip and another on his nose. Eyeliner was applied thickly along the bottom of his eyes.

“Oui, monsieur... anotre fille.” I replied with a smirk. The guys all looked at each other quickly; obviously unaware of the fact I spoke or understood any form of French. Geez, did they honestly think I'd come all the way to Qu?bec without brushing up on some of the language?

“Ignore David…he hasn't seen lovely girls in a long time…” One of the other's said, stepping in front of the first. He was taller then the others. His hair was a dark brown and he had twinkling eyes to match. His smile was gorgeous and friendly. He outstretched his hand.

“Pierre.” He informed us. Jen and I glanced at each other, trying not to giggle. We had just arrived in the province and already we had managed to come across a group of good-looking guys. I lifted my hand to his and smiled.

“Alyssa.” I replied. Jen shook his hand and nodded, grinning like mad.

“Jen.” She told him.

“Would you two ladies be interested in sliding around to our apartment at around 8ish? You can spend the night in our apartment…we wouldn't want you to be lonely and cold on your first night…” David offered with a mischievous grin. Jen looked at me as if to say `oh brother' I acknowledged secretly.

“Actually…we won't be lonely…we've got someone staying with us.” I informed him.

“Another chick?!” He asked hopefully. I could see Jen roll her eyes from the corner of my eye.

“Nope…a guy…a very sexy guy…” I replied, raising an eyebrow, challengingly. His shoulders seemed to drop slightly. Jen looked at me as if I was crazy.

“Anyways…we'll see you later, boys…it was nice meeting you…” I said, stepping past them. Jen followed closely behind me.

“Dude…tell me you were not implying that my brother was our very sexy third party…” She begged me once we edged our way down the hall. I grinned and arched an eyebrow before sliding my hand into the depths of my back pocket. I found the piece of plastic I was looking for, before pulling it out. I lifted it to my face.

“Well?” Jen whispered. I grinned and nodded.

“They're still watching us.” I told her. She laughed as we rounded the corner at the far end of the hall and reached the elevator.

***David's POV***

I looked down at the girl who had just landed on the ground. Her roots had a reddish tint, while the rest of her hair was a dark brown. She glanced up at me, holding her arm, painfully. Her eyes were a deep brown. She was very good looking. I found myself allowing my eyes to lift as I heard footsteps coming from around the corner. I was met by another girl. Her hair was wavy and a dark, brunette colour which contained lighter brown highlights. Her eyes were grey.

“Looky, looky…we've got anotre fille…” I heard the words leave my lips faster then my brain could contemplate the consequences. I immediately kicked myself. How charming that must've sounded. Luckily, Pierre stepped forward and took over. I didn't exactly follow the conversation…all I managed to here were their names. Jen was the one who had been on the floor and Alyssa was the one who had just joined us.

“Would you two ladies be interested in sliding around to our apartment at around 8ish? You can spend the night in our apartment…we wouldn't want you to be lonely and cold on your first night…”

Oh f**k…now if the first thing didn't sound man-whorish…I know for a fact that one did. Why was I having problems with controlling my speech? This wasn't normal…I was supposed to be the relaxed, funny guy…not the one that ran out of things to say. I'm sure more idiotic remarks were made after that one… but I didn't notice because before I knew it, Alyssa and Jen had stepped past me. I felt the slight breeze and smelled a strong vanilla aroma from Alyssa as her shoulder brushed with mine. I looked over my shoulder and watched the two of them walk down the hall. Alyssa had just slid her hand into her back pocket which had managed to captivate my gaze. They were both so lovely. I was hoping I'd be seeing more of them soon.
