Dancing Dead
By Synful Emy

Dead men,
They celebrate
As the final chapter
Fades away
Cuz they can't hide;
We can see their flesh is rotten!

The band plays a hopeful tune
The champagne is poured
As they socialize
The look in their eyes
Hide in the light!

"Come on guys!" Matt Sanders told his best friends and bandmates as he jogged quickly to the gates of the town cemetery.

"Why are we here?" Brian asked Matt as he followed his friend closely.

"Just come on! I'm not telling you until we get there!"

"But we're at a graveyard." Zacky stated.

"I know that, but do you know why?" Matt looked back to at Brian, Zacky, Johnny, and Jimmy to make sure they were still following him.

"None of us ever know what's going through your mind, you psycho." Johnny chuckled.

Matt slowed to a hault when he made it to a fully loaded bar with a small lamp on it that illuminated a good 10 feet around the bar.

"Why are we here?" Brian repeated.

"Just sit down." Matt motioned to some park benches a few feet away. The other boys sat down like they were told.

Matt began mixing some drinks for his bandmates. When he handed them all their drinks, he sat with them on a bench.

"Watch." He pointed to an area of graves in front of them.

There was a person walking through the graves. Even though it was dark over there, the boys could see the person clearly. They could see long white hair, so they assumed the creature was female. She was balding though, and it looked like her skin had a greenish tint.

The guys were mesmerized as she slowly started to dance. It started off slow, but picked up pace. The dance was shockingly beautiful for a rotting woman.

The boys' eyes widened as some hands jutted out from the graves where the woman was dancing. The dirt around the hands crumbled away and bodies came up from the holes in the ground. Pretty soon, there were atleast fifteen of the same green skinned creatures slowly walking around the now spinning leading lady.

Everything is paid for tonight
While at the party of the
Dead dancin in their graves
The drinks here are free
So relax
Enjoy the sight of all the
Dead dancin in their graves

And while the world that they built
Told 'em to change
Told 'em to listen
They just kept it the same
And now that midnight has come
I'll get a room watchin the
Dead dancin in their graves

The boys all sat quietly sipping their drinks and staring at the collection of dead dancing on their own graves. The dead seemed to be having the time of their lives. .or afterlives.

The dead were all dancing almost gracefully around in circles. They formed a big circle and joined hands with each other. The creatures all started moving in a counter-clockwise motion. The movements were enough to take the five boys observing's breath away.

The guys couldn't believe how swiftly and magestically the undead could move. They were having fun just watching them have fun dancing on their graves.

Bones covered up by suits
As the visible scars,
They multiply
Kiss it good-bye
Too stubborn and I'll destroy!

Tick, tock
The time bomb has been
Recognized and pressurized
Nowhere to hide
Swallowing light!

The friends silently watched the skinny, broken, and scarred bodies dancing around for well over an hour. Once they started looking, it was hard to stop.

Suddenly, all of the graves around the boys had hands jutting out of them. One by one, more bodies came out of the ground. Pretty soon, there were what seemed like over two hundred bodies surrounding them.

Matt didn't let the expression on his face show to the others, but he was starting to get scared. Everytime he came to watch the dead dancing he had never seen that many at once. He leaned back where he was sitting, trying to slink into darkness, but it seemed impossible. Matt turned to Jimmy, who was closest to the lamp on the bar and motioned for him to turn it off. Jimmy did so, thrusting the boys and the bodies into darkness.

Even in the pitch black, the guys could still see the dead perfectly. It was like they had began to glow slightly.

Feel a coming strength
And now it's too late
To change.

What do you want to know?
You drown me? without any soul
Oh, how the mighty fall
Yeah

Matt looked over to the other living guys with a look of horror on his face. The others noticed the expression and started to worry. They didn't know what was going to happen.

All of them looked back in time to see the leading woman of the zombie parade snap her gaze in the direction of the living boys. Her rotting eyes were glowing read. She opened her mouth and let out a screech like a banshee.

"Matt?" Jimmy whispered at him.

Matt couldn't reply. He was shaking in fear. He was never noticed at all when he was there watching them dance.

The army of undead all snapped their heads into the direction of where the five boys were sitting. Two hundred glowing, rotting eyes all staring at them. The boys were paralyzed in fear.

In less then a second, the army all pounced on the guys on the bench. With snarls and screams, the zombies tore into the living's flesh, making them all scream along with the dead. After what seemed like an eternity, the zombies retreated, leaving five very green, very souless men sitting on the bench.

Matt turned his rotten head to look at the others. He saw their rotting flesh, but couldn't react. He didn't feel anything anymore.

The leader woman screeched again, and Matt snapped his neck back to her. She made another screech and instantly, the guys shot to their feet.

The woman spoke to them with an almost angelic voice. "You're mine now."

She lead the boys to where she was standing with her screeches and started to teach them the dance that only the dead were allowed to do.
