Faithfully
By VengeanceAtMidnight

Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
Sendin' all my love
Along the wire.

I sit looking out the tour bus window. I peer up to the sky above, in awe of the constellations presented before me. The once light blue colour slowly fading into black as I watch intently. The millions of stars seem to be moving, the glints of their light confusing me with the lights of a plane.

Everyone else is asleep; except for the bus driver who is practically living off of Starbucks coffee at the moment. I however, haven't been able to sleep peacefully since we left California two months ago. It's a large price to pay when you're a rock star. Having to leave your home, possessions, friends, and most importantly: family. I'm extremely close with my parents, and having to be away from them for months at a time is slowly tearing me apart.

I glance down at the road for a few minutes. We're on the highway and have been for the past couple of hours. I watch as the few late night drivers are heading home. I take another sip of my coffee then check the time; it's nearly midnight. I should be getting to sleep soon, but I have something on my mind, or rather; someone.

Michelle. We've been together since high school, and I could never imagine my life without her. When I'm home, we spend every waking moment with each other, and every night tangled together beneath the bed sheets. I love her with all my heart, and I hate having to sleep alone. Quietly, I pick up my phone and dial her number, praying I didn't wake her.

"Bri?" It's just so good to hear her voice right now. The way she says my name sends shivers down my spine.

"Hey baby, did I wake you?" She laughs lightly before replying.

"No, I was still up. I couldn't stop thinking about you," she whimpers.

"I couldn't stop thinking about you either. I miss you so bad right now." I say, almost in a whisper.

"Oh, why did you have to do another stupid tour?" 'Chelle whines.

"Why didn't you come with me?" I joke. Michelle hates coming on tour. Much like me, she is really close to her family, and hates being away from home. So we decided it would be best if she alternates coming on tour with me, and staying home. Usually she stays home for the shorter tours, but unfortunately this time I'll be away for about five months. Two have already passed, but they seemed like decades.

'Chelle laughs and I let out a deep sigh. "I love you, you know that right?"

"Yeah, you tell me at least once a week. And I love you too," I smile as she professes her love for me. She was my first, and will be my last.

"Not long now, just three more months. I'll be home before you know it."

"I hope so. I'm sorry honey, but I'm just so tired, I haven't been sleeping well without you." I let out a light chuckle as my gaze returns to the stars.

"Same here. And it's okay, I'll call you tomorrow and we can chat then, yeah?"

"Okay, bye sweetie,"

"Bye, I love you!" I quickly say before she hangs up. I can tell she's smiling as she replies.

"I love you too Brian. Goodnight." She whispers as she hangs up. I replace the phone on the table and finish my coffee. I'll never be able to sleep now.

They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line
It's been you and me
And lovin' a music man
Ain't always what it's supposed to be
Oh girl; you stand by me
I'm forever yours... Faithfully.

It took us forever to marry. I refused to ask her until she understood how demanding it would be, and how little time we would actually spend together. Of course, she already knew what it would be like; after all, she has been with me since the start of my career. She stuck by me through thick and thin, and through rough and hard times. I just wanted to make sure she thought about committing herself to me for the rest of her life. We sat up all night talking about our future. We both want children, but I won't be able to see them if I'm constantly touring. I made sure she knew that being the wife of a rock star wasn't all it was made out to be. I told her she could leave me, and although it would be the hardest thing in the world to go through, and I'm certain I will never love another; I wanted her to be happy. That's all I've ever wanted for her.

I stand up take a trip to the bathroom, careful to be silent as I pass the bunks.

Circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you.

I couldn't live without the guys. These four men make every day worth living. They never fail to make me laugh, and I'm never upset for long when I'm with them. But this is one pain they can't heal because they're going through the exact same thing. Sure we write songs to express our feelings, but it doesn't help. Not really. It doesn't end the tours quicker, or bring us home to our wives faster. Hell, I suppose they make matters worse. They just remind us of how lonely we feel, and how lost we are without our loves.

We all just have to face it, to live our dreams; we have to give up our lives.

Matt is getting hit by it all the hardest. Just before we left the girls back in Cali', Valary told him she was pregnant. He was ecstatic about it all, and couldn't stop grinning. Yet that night I lay in bed and listened to him cry. If things were heading the way they were; he wouldn't see his kid grow up.

And being apart ain't easy
On this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy
Of rediscovering you
Oh girl, you stand by me
I'm forever yours... Faithfully.

I climb onto my bunk and rest my head on the pillow. I listen to the sounds of the guys sleeping for a few minutes before I start thinking again. I remember all the times in the past when I've been reunited with Michelle. I always surprise her. On my way home I stop off at the store and buy her favourite flowers then sneak into the house while she's still sleeping. Then as quietly as possible, I make her breakfast in bed as an apology for leaving her again.

I will never cheat on Michelle. Ever. People always say, "there are tons of girls out there prettier than Michelle" and I always knock them down. In my eyes she is the funniest, sweetest, loyal, and the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on. Whenever I see her, she completely takes my breath away. When she kisses me, I always end up wanting more. Whenever I'm with her, I always get a fuzzy feeling in my heart. And I don't care how cheesy that sounds. 'Cause it sure as hell isn't cheesy when you're experiencing it first hand.

I never thought I would know what love felt like.

Then I met her.

~~~~~~~~
Yeah... Just a bit of cheese really. :)
The song is Faithfully by Journey.
I love them and the song is so beautiful.
Thanks for reading, please review. :)
Just a random fact: Peanuts are used in the manufacture of Dynamite.
