This Magic Moment
By Leigh_Ashworth

This being the first date I became really nervous. I mean who wouldn't be when you're dating someone you were friends with for so long? I blushed deeply when I found out where we would have the date and frowned slightly, knowing that it had cost him an arm and a leg to have just made reservations, and then for the meal itself. I was about to voice my concern when he stopped me by saying that he wanted tonight to be special. God, I knew I was blushing even more from the heat I felt coming from my cheeks.

We entered and were seated quickly. The restaurant was dimly lit and there were couples here and there, quietly speaking to each other. In the middle of the restaurant was a sizable dance floor, with a small orchestra playing soft music, while a man in a white dress suit was singing. Our waiter came with menus and asked for our decision on drinks. We gave him our answer and he left. As we waited on our drinks we looked over the menus, I gasped when I saw the prices. Matt chuckled when I looked at him; he just shrugged and went back to his menu. I sat my menu down suddenly not wanting to eat, even though my stomach grumbled under my crossed arms.

Matt sat his down a few minutes later and looked me.
"Are you having trouble choosing?" he asked
I shook my head before answering. "No, I just can't believe the prices."
``I told you that this place was expensive." he said as a smile graced his featured making those dimples show. God those dimples so should be illegal.
"Well I also told you, you didn't have to do this. Pizza and candles at home would have been enough for me." I said placing my hands on the table and leaning forward. Matt placed his hands on top of mine, lightly caressing my left thumb with his right.
"I also know that you love being spoiled, that's why I did this. Besides I had made the reservations before hand so you couldn't have backed out." I stared at him my mouth making an "o"
"You sneaky bastard." I accused,
He just laughed, "I love it though."
I blushed again. God what's with me and blushing tonight? No wonder the guys said we were good for each other.
"Do you want me to just order for you? Or are you going to choose?" Matt asked as the waiter headed our way.
I looked at the menu quickly. "I'll just have what you're having." I said looking back to him. Matt nodded.

The waiter took our order and menu's after setting down a basket of rolls and a small cup of butter, a long with our drinks. "Your meal will be ready within thirty minutes." the waiter said before he left.

We talked idly about ourselves and the guys and what we could do while on tour in England and Scotland. While Matt went through what we could do while in England I thought about how we ended up together.

It started at a small get together with a few others we were friends with and of course with all the booze and liquor there something was bound to happen. To be honest if it wasn't for Johnny suggesting that everyone play the drinking game 'I never...' Matt and I would have shone our true feeling for each other. Now two weeks later here we are on our official first date.

Right when Matt was about to discuss what towns we should visit after the London concert, our food came.
Smiling and thanking the waiter, we started eating. Though this time it was quiet, only the sound of our forks and knifes hitting our plate came from our table.

After awhile our waiter came back, to see if we want desert. We shook our head in unison and asked for a refill on our drinks. He left and came back moments later with a pitcher and refilled our glasses. We sat there sipping at our drinks and listening to the song that was being sung, when Matt had excused himself for the bathroom.

"Hey, want to dance?'' He asked softly, his mouth right next to my ear. I jumped slightly, not knowing that he came up right behind me.
I turned to look up at him. "Now?"
He smiled again showing those dimples. "Yes, now"
"In front of everyone?" I asked getting nervous.
"Since when do you care what people think?" Matt stage persona showing in his eyes.
He was right, I was just nervous. I've never danced with a guy before. "Your right." I said getting up from my seat and taking his offered hand.

We walked toward the dance floor, where there were couples already dancing slowly to the music that was ending. Matt walked me to the middle of the floor and took my other hand, kissing them both then putting them on his shoulders. To which I moved to clasp them together on the back of his neck.

We started to dance as the singer started to sing:

This magic moment
So different and so new
Was like any other
Until I kissed you
Matt leaned in his forehead against mine. I could feel his breathe against my lips. Then he kissed me.

And then it happened
It took me by surprise
I knew that you felt it too
By the look in your eyes

At first I was surprised, but I soon found myself kissing back. Something in me changed and I knew he did, too.

Sweeter than wine (sweeter than wine)
Softer than a summer night (softer than a summer night)
Everything I wanna have (everything, everything)
Whenever I hold you tight

His kiss was soft and yet determined. As was mine. He hands moved from their place on my hips to clasp together at my back, bringing me closer to him. Hold on me tightened a little.

This magic moment (this magic moment)
While your lips are close to mine
Will last forever
Forever till the end of time

We pulled apart for breath, and then we greedily went back to the other wanting more, yet knowing that we were in a public place, we made it look subtle.

Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh

Sweeter than wine (sweeter than wine)
Softer than a summer night (softer than a summer night)
Everything I wanna have
Whenever I hold you tight

This magic moment
While your lips are close to mine
Will last forever
Forever till the end of time

Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh

Magic, oh-oh-oh
Magic, oh-oh-oh
Magic, oh-oh-oh

When we pulled apart for the second time, we smiled simultaneously and leaned against each others foreheads. "Thank you for tonight, Matt. It means a lot to me." I said as we kept on dancing slowly to the song play as it started again.
"Your welcome, Bri. I love you." He said kissing my cheek as I blushed once again.
"I love you, too." I said kissing his cheek as well.
