The Dark End of The Street
By Cait

TITLE: The Dark End Of The Street

WARNING: Gay Storyline

PAIRING: Mark/Kian
RATING: PG13
NOTE: Pre-westlife i.e. IOU - Graham, Derek and Michael still in the
group.

**************

Patricia Egan carried a tray of orange juice and biccies to the
budding musicians who had taken over her dining room.
" FOOD!" Shane and Graham yelled in unison and Michael and Derek
mobbed her.
"Thanks Mrs Egan!" Shane muttered with his mouth full.
Kian tapped Mark's shoulder and slipped away. Mark nodded in response
to the well-known signal, and looked at his watch. Five minutes.
" How's your ma doing, Mark?" Patricia asked.
" She's grand Mrs Egan" Mark wondered if Kian's parents would be so
welcoming if they knew the truth.
"Now boys, keep the noise down - I'm putting Colm to bed!"
" Yes Mrs Egan!" Everyone chorused.
Mark sneaked out the door and headed to that spot ...at the dark end
of the street...

At the dark end of the street
That's where we always meet
Hiding in shadows where we don't belong
Living in darkness to hide a wrong
You and me at the dark end of the street
You and me

Kian was waiting under a tree in a secluded spot at the far end of
the housing estate. Sligo was a pretty old-fashioned town - with old-
fashioned attitudes. He shuddered to think how his teachers, the local
priest or even his parents would react if they ever found out...

I know time is gonna take its toll
We have to pay for the love we stole
It's a sin and we know it's wrong
But our love keeps coming on strong
Tonight we'll meet at the dark end of the street
You and me

Out of the shadows Mark appeared and kissed Kian gently. Their stolen
kisses became more and more passionate - they both knew they were
going to get caught someday, they both knew they shouldn't be there,
they both knew there would be hell to pay if their parents ever found
out, ... but they both knew they could never walk away from this -
not ever...

They're gonna find us, oh, they'll find us
They 're gonna find us, they're gonna find us
Oooooh, someday
Tonight we meet at the dark end of the street
You and me

Slowly, reluctantly they broke apart, their unspoken words as loud as
ever - their love must remain in the shadows no matter what. All day
they had controlled themselves...in double maths, at band rehearsal -
but they knew they would always meet in that secluded spot...

And when the daylight hour rolls around
And by chance we're both down the town
If we should meet, just walk on by
Oooooh darling, please don't you cry

Without a word and with a tear in their eyes they went back to the
Egan's for rehearsals, a couple of minutes apart avoid suspicion.
Mark sneaked Kian the odd glance, Kian flashed Mark the odd smile,
but they knew it would be tomorrow night before they were in each
other's arms again, be it only for a few stolen moments...

Tonight we'll meet in the dark end of the street
You and me
