All That Matters Is You.
By .EnvY.

"People say I'm the life of the party
'Cause I tell a joke or two"

I laugh wildly. Drowning a beer in a matter of seconds.
People grinning. All of them grinning.

"Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue"

I laugh with them. Its so funny, how easily fooled they are. That is, until you walk into the room.

"So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place"

You look over at me and my smile falters but I put it back on just as quickly.
I can't let anyone know.

"If you look closer it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears"

That's why I quit wearing makeup.
So no one could see.
Lately I noticed its becoming even more noticeable.
I miss you with every power of my being.
And I know that you know it.
And I wish I could tell you, but we both know I can't.

"Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading"

People buy it, all of the people but you.
It hurts. I only wanted to fool you, I can't even do that right.

"Just a clown
Since you put me down"

The group erupts in laughter once again as I tip another beer over.
I'm not even drunk, but if it seems to fool, it'll work.
I just miss you.
So why can't I say it?

"My smile is my make up
I wear since my break up with you."

I make my smile grow wider.
But all I can think about is you, the last words.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to leave you, but I'm not good enough."
"No, don't say that, please, oh my god, no please."
"I'm sorry, Zacky, I truly am."
"But I love you, Brian."
"Yes, but you shouldn't, you should find someone whose worth something, someone better than me. But always know, I love you Zacky."

"So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place"

I stand up. I walk away. Someone asks where I'm going, but, of course, I don't reply.
I rarely reply to questions anymore.
But you know. You always know. I wish you were following.

"If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears"

I walk to some random room. There's a mirror on the other side.
I walk up to it and... I start to sob.
I jerk as I here the door shut softly.

"I need you"

"I told you I would always love you, I didn't think you wouldn't ever get over me. Did you even try?" I blink. I missed hearing you say that you loved me.
"I tried. I did. Every time I tried, I ended up disappearing for days. That's why I would miss practices and screw up gigs. I was trying."
"Why do you want me? I told you. I'm nothing and you're... you're perfect." I swear I can here tears in your voice.

"I need you"

"I don't want you Brian. I need you. I'm so far from perfect, but I'm not to you. Look at me Brian." I turn around and reach out to tilt your chin up to look at me. "I wear eyeliner. I'm a guy whose gay. I AM NOT perfect, but I am to you. If I am to you, why can't you be to me?"
"Because you're better than me."
"No. Do you know that since you left, I've thought about committing suicide 27 times "
"What? Why would you do that? Do you know what that would've done to me?" You grab my shoulders and for a second I thought you were going to push me against the wall.
"You left me, why would you care?"
"I told you I loved you."
"Yes, and I said it too. But you still left."
"It's not the same."
"Yes, it is."
"How?" This time I can see you eyes filling up.
"I need you." You let go and back away.

"I need..."

"I promise to never leave again. I hate seeing the pain in you. I hate seeing the tracks of your tears."
"The what of my tears?"
"You can see where you cry, that's how I know."
"Why didn't anyone else say anything?"
"You only see them when you look close."
"Do you promise not to leave?" You pull me close and kiss me, not hard, no tongue or teeth, filled with passion and promise.
"Never." And I know this is it, I have you forever, and I don't have to cry anymore. I won't ever let me tears leave tracks again. I won't make you deal with that because now that I've got you, I'm okay, and your what matters.
