Chapter 10

Chapter 10

The next day when I woke up my head was killing me. I lifted up my hand and touched the back of my
head where it hurt the most to feel the bandages wrapped around it. Then I remembered why I had them
on my head and felt stupid so I quickly took my hand off it as if more people were in the room to
witness my stupidity.
The nurse came in next with one of those weird dress thingies. A clean one. I awkwardly got changed
in the back corner of the room while she changed the sheets on my bed.
"I hear you've got a date today," she said. It was a different nurse from the one who helped me
yesterday. This one had brilliantly orange hair and freckles covering every inch of pale skin
showing under her white nurses uniform. Her green eyes were pleasant and made you feel as if she was
your mother.
"Yeah," I mumbled.
"I also hear it's with Stacey's daughter. She's a cutie. A little loud though, don't you think?"
"Eh, she's nice though."
"Well, good luck. Remember, don't kiss on the first date," she smiled.
"Thanks," I said, taking in her advice gratefully before she leaved.
Then Daisy came in.
"Hey, cutie," she said.
I blushed, "Hey."
"I think you've got some friends commin' to see you today. There's a guy and a girl. I don't know
their names though."
"Audrey and Ryan?!"
"Sure."
They came in right on cue. I bet Ryan was planning that, though. Ryan's arm was around Audrey's
shoulders and her arm was around his waist.
"Hey stupid," Ryan chanted. "What'd ya do this time?"
"They usual. Spontaneously start bleeding on my head, y'know." I replied.
Audrey wasn't paying attention to us, though.
"Who's this?" she asked, eying Daisy as if she was a dead animal.
"I'm Daisy. Who are you, pipsqueak?"
"Don't call me pipsqueak, giant."
"Woah, Audrey," Ryan said pulling Audrey away from Daisy. She had tried to get in her face but
failed... epically.
Daisy walked quietly closer to me. I put my arm around her waist. Even though I barely knew her, I
felt as though we'd been together for years.
"Woo! Ollie's finally got a girlfriend! Congrats buddy," Ryan said enthusiastically.
"Thanks," I mumbled.
"Well, I can see that you're doing fine," Audrey said avoiding eye-contact with Daisy, "We'll just
be on our way then."
"Awwww. But I don't wanna leave," Ryan complained.
"We've got stuff to do today, remember?" she glared up at him.
He rolled his eyes and kissed her nose, "Alright, alright. Hope you get better soon, Ollie. Don't
forget to kiss that chick before you say goodnight." he smiled at me before he left with Audrey.
Both me and Daisy blushed at his comment.
"Sooo... you wanna got get some lunch?" I asked. It was almost twelve o'clock.
"Sure." she replied.
I held out my hand and she put hers into it and we walked to the cafeteria together
