His world was shattered
By Jessica M

He felt the hot tears begin to well in his eyes. He felt his heart thump… thump… thump… louder and louder till he could barely hear the words being spoken to him. He felt his body become tense and he could slowly feel his soul crumbling into ashes.

He knew things had never been perfect… he knew things were never going to be perfect… but he always had hope… until now

The others had no idea what was happening… The others only knew that Ryan left the table to take a call… he tried to ignore the call so he didn't appear rude but the phone rang and rang.

He felt his stomach churn over and over and new it wouldn't be long before he became sick. His breath was becoming ragged and hurt began consuming his mind…

Brendon glanced at his watch several times and watched as seconds elapsed into minutes.

Ryan stood in the bathroom as minutes that seemed liked days went by. He felt his heart growing heavy and his body growing weary. He then heard a click and all connection was lost….. Everything was lost.

The realization of the situation left him blank. He couldn't believe the conservation was over. He couldn't believe just like that it was over.

Before he knew it the phone was shattered and his tears turned into waterfalls. He slid down the wall and became a heap on the floor. He cried and cried till he couldn't catch his breath. He sobbed until he gagged and gagged until he vomited on the bathroom floor. His heart was shattered, his life was in disarray.

Brendon glanced at his watch one final time and decided it was time to see what was taking Ryan so long. Everyone was waiting to order and he felt it was his duty to tell Ryan to stop being rude.

Brendon left the table and walked into the bathroom… As he entered his ears were met by hysterics and his eyes were met by a mess on the floor. Brendon ran over to Ryan and slid down next to him. All Ryan could do was latch onto his friend to try to seek comfort. Brendon embraced him in his arms and tried to coax him. He tried his hardest to calm Ryan down. Nothing worked he just continued to sob and cry into the arms of his best friend. Finally when the hurt settled in and he could control his tears he spoke….

“Bren… My father died.”

And with those words the pain and broken heartedness engulfed Ryan's mind. The burden he always thought would have disappeared became a weight that anchored him to the place he stood as he collapsed into his friends arms. All his hope was seized by one simple call.
