I Am The Curse On
A knock on the door made me jump.
Craig was brushing his fingers through my hair and telling me stories about previous things that
have heppened here.
He scooted away from me a little bit and Tanner and Hayley just continued smiling at nothing
Suzanne left a few minutes ago.
Nancy popped her head in with a warm smile on her face.
"Knock knock," she giggled a little bit and smiled at me.
"Valerie, we have a doctor here you need to speak with."
I shot a nervous glance at Hayley and she nodded reassuringly.
I got up and followed Nancy, taking slow and small steps to stall the time.
Nancy was gentle and kind and I liked that about her.
She stopped outside a door and I looked at her.
"Can my friends come here?"
She looked into my eyes with an apologetic smile.
"No other patients may come up here, I'm sorry."
"No. I mean my friends. Not the patients but my outside friends."
Understanding shined clear in her eyes and she patted my hand.
"Visits happened yesterday. They're once a week. I'm sure you may see one or two of your friends
A boy powerwalked out of the room Nancy and I had stopped at.
He wore black hair, fairly short if not for the long fringe in his eye.
His lips were the perfect deep pink-ish red and he had creamy white skin.
A sly grin was stuck to his face and his pockets clanged.
Nancy pushed the door open for me to watch a confused, graying man. He was patting his pockets and
checking his desk.
He must've remembered something because he looked pissed and not so confused anymore.
He rushed out of the room and torwards the boy with the black fringe.
"Nixon, I swear to freakin' hell."
He held his hand out and the boy pulled a bottle of pills out of his pocket, handing them to the
He still held his hand out and the boy, looking pissed, pulled a pen out of his pocket and handed it
to the man.
He sighed and patted the kids head.
"Jeez. Alright, go mind your studies, Nixon."
The boy skipped off and the man came torwards the door again.
He smiled at me and introduced himself as Neil.
I shook his hand, mine getting ingulfed in his.
He brought me into his room and sat me down.
Then he asked me about my home life, my friends, my parents and siblings.
I told him all I had to offer.
Once we were done, he told me that if I ever needed to talk about anything, I could tell him because
he's a therapist.
Like that's gonna make me feel right around him. I hate therapists as much as the next person.
He told me he'd have the medication for me in a few days.
I can't believe how long a few days sounds.
He let me leave and I got to walk back to my room with my thoughts.
Hardly any kids were in the hallways.
I got back to my room and everything went back to how it was before I left the room.
I sat on the bed and Craig brushed my hair with his fingers.
Hayley and Tanner talked like cartoons, nonstop.
Someone knocked on the door again, and again, Craig moved away.
Micheal stood in the doorway now, calling my name.
I sighed and got up to follow him.
He brought me down a few hallways and to a big room with glass walls.
Micheal knocked on one of the walls and I changed my mind.
Not glass, but plastic.
Micheal opened up a door and there were rounded tables and more rounded chairs like the ones in
He told me to sit, and so I did.
Then he went to another door and knocked. Then in walked the most amazing thing in my life.
I wanted to scream. So I did.
His smile was huge, spreading from one side of his face to the other. Ear to ear.
He mimicked my tone and said my name.
Then he picked me up and spun me in a circle.
When he put me down, I didn't move away from him.
I burried my face in his neck, my cheeks hurting from smiling so much.
Johnny stroked my hair and kissed my temple.
Micheal said we had half an hour, then he walked out.
Johnny sat down so I sat in his lap, too happy for words that my best friend was here with me, if
only for a short while.
I decided I'd cling to him as much as possible.
We chatted about the boys, all excluding Matt, and about me.
"How is it here? They treating you good?"
"Yeah, they treat everyone really well. And it's good here. Like, it's a nice place, but I really,
really want to go home. I miss you guys."
A sad smile crept to his lips and I burried my face in his neck, inhaling deeply.
This is the only communication I'd have to the outside world for a week. A few days minimum. I'm
going to cherish it.
He let the word die with the flowing oxygen.
I smiled at the sound of his voice and snuggled closer to him.
His lips turned to a frown and I questioned him.
"They found Matt," he sounded sad and pissed.
"Yeah. Said he stole someone's credit card and got a plane ticket to Germany. Guess when they found
him, he decided it was no use fighting anymore. He just flat out told them, 'yeah, I did it'. He's
in there thirty to life."
By his tone, it sounded like he wanted Matt dead.
He slid his hand up my shirt and I wanted to slap him for it.
Johnny's always been straightforward, but he's never done that so straight out.
Then I realized that he put something in my shirt. He leaned close to me to whisper in my ear.
"Look at it later. I always want to be with you."
Soon afterward, Micheal came in and told us that time was up. I felt cheated. It felt that only
minutes went by.
I got off of Johnny's lap and he leaned up a tiny bit, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
Then he hugged me and I wrapped my arms around him for dear life. Whatever he put in my shirt dug
against my stomach.
He whispered in my ear again. "I love you, Val,"
I'd cherish those words forever.
He pressed another kiss to my cheek before stepping away from me, his eyes sad.
"I'll see you soon, gorgeous."
I waved and slimed the second he was gone. It was faint, but I couldn't help but notice the
brown-ish yellow bruise that lined his cheek bone.
I pressed my hand to my stomach and followed Micheal back to my room with a smile on my face.
And medication xD
Thanks for the reviews:D
