I had to tell you
By crypticjedi

I had to tell you

Ring. Ring.
"Hello?" asked Rob as he rubbed sleep from his eyes.
"Hey, Rob." said a voice on the other end.
"It's one o'clock in the morning." he replied.
"I know. I miss you." she replied.
"Babe, can you call me when it's at least sunny outside?" he asked as he sat up in his hotel bed.
"No. I checked the weather report for your area, it'll be raining when you wake up. I want to talk
to you now." she replied with a slight laugh. He smiled. "What's on your mind?"
"I want to tell you something."
"What?"
"I can't say it on the phone."
"So why did you call me?"
"To tell you to look out of your window."
Rob lowered his eyebrows to a confused position. "What?"
"Just do it." Click.

Rob wasted no time in getting up and fixing his stripped pants while he walked to the window. He
opened it and quickly wished he had opted to sleep with a t shirt on. He looked all around wondering
what he'd see but nothing made him look down. His eyes shifted below the window where they settled
on a short girl with long brown hair and a sign in her hands that read "Come downstairs." He nodded
and backed up, pulling on a t-shirt and a jacket and his sneakers. He snuck his way out of his room
and down the hall to the elevator and down to the lobby. Making sure no one saw him he stepped
outside and went around the corner to find her.

"How'd you know I'd be here?" he asked. "I called your manager. Told him it was an emergency." she
replied as she hugged him. "Well, he's going to be pissed when he finds out it wasn't." he replied
with a laugh as he picked her up. "So what did you want to say to me that couldn't possibly have
been said from the comforts of your apartment in New Jersey and certainly not over the phone?" he
asked as he backed away from her and folded his arms. She smiled and looked a bit uncomfortable.
It's not that she didn't want to say what was on her mind, it was, well, they were outside. He must
have caught on. "Come upstairs."

Once they reached his room he pulled off his jacket and reached for hers. She took hers off and
handed it to him and looked around the room. "Don't you get lonely?" she asked. "That's what I have
you for, midget." he replied as he took his shirt off. It wasn't like Rob to opt for half nudity
around, well, anyone, but he was comfortable with the one he called "Midget". "I'm not that short!"
she shouted. "Shh!" he replied placing a hand on her mouth suddenly. She furrowed her brow and where
she would have licked his hand to make him move it, she simply kissed it. She giggled when she saw
his face turn pink. "Blushing." she said low as she pointed. "So?" he replied. He crouched down in
front of her as she sat on the end of the bed. "What's on your mind?" he asked. She couldn't help
but feel butterflies. His eyes were beautiful in the moonlight. She smiled and tried to look away
but it was hard. "Midget...you in there?" he asked with a small laugh. "I...yes." she replied.

'God, I'm always so bold around him why can't I just say it?' she thought. More than five minutes
had passed and his calves hurt from crouching down. He stood up and sat next to her. "Hello?" he
said. She blushed and lowered her head. "UGH!" she said loudly. "Yuliana Angel Draven! What are you
thinking! Just say it!" he shouted in high octave, which is slightly above Rob's normal robotic low.
"I love you." she said. He let his eyes widen and his face come up from it's downward position a few
seconds later as he tried to calm his suddenly rapid heartbeat. "Well...I love you, too." he
replied. She turned to him. "No, Rob. I love you." she said as she leaned forward pressing her lips
to his. At first he stayed still but slowly his hand came up to her shoulder and found it's way to
the base of her neck and into her hair. She went to pull away but he pulled her back, kissing her
gently at first and then with more intensity. It took all of her energy not to melt at that moment.
When his lips parted with hers he placed his forehead against hers and smiled. "I love you, too." he
whispered.

He stood up and slipped himself back into the bed and nuzzled his head into the pillows. She stared
at the floor in front of her and smiled. "Um, Midget...you coming?" he said low. She laughed and
turned her head. "I'm not that short." she replied. She stood up and kicked her sneakers off. She
pulled her jeans off and took off her shirt, replacing it with the one he had just taken off since
it was like a nightgown on her anyway. She climbed into the bed with him and stared at him. "Happy
now?" she asked. He reached his arm around her and turned her so her back was against his chest. She
closed her eyes instantly feeling his heartbeat. His face nessled into her neck and his nose sat
against her chin. "I am now. Goodnight, love." he whispered as he kissed her shouder. She smiled.
"Goodnight, Rob." she replied as they fell asleep.
