The coffin mark
By Black-Chimaera

- THE COFFIN MARK -

I think it all began that night. I was driving back home with The Rev when I got that strange feeling. Well, it was more like a panic. At the last moment, I turned on the street where Synyster was living. The tires screeched. Some cars horned. I sped, angry.

  • Fuck, Matt ! What's going on ? Jimmy asked.

  • I must see...

I stopped in front on Syn's house, quickly turned off the engine then almost ran to the door. The Rev followed me, muttering about my sudden madness. I didn't wait for Syn to open. I pushed the door and entered. The house was quiet, maybe too quiet. While I was walking to the living room, I smelled blood. The odour wasn't fresh. I was dripping with cold sweat. I was nervous, so fuckin' nervous.

I entered the living room and saw Syn. He was lying on the floor, on a dried blood covered carpet. A pair a huge grey bat wings was lying beside him. I got closer of him and saw that the wings were connected to his back. White fangs were escaping from his small lips. Horns pointed through his messy black hair. His body was cold, his eyes opened wide. He was dead.

I knelt beside him and slowly closed his eyes.

  • The proof his gone. They won't know now. The first one is bathing in his blood, the others will follow. Kill the bearers of the mark.

I turned and saw The Rev who was talking to himself.

  • What the fuck are you saying ? I asked.

  • You're lucky, Matt, he said simply.

Slowly, Jimmy began to change. Dark red bat wings appeared on his back, then horns on his head and fangs in his mouth. He has turned in a beast, like Brian...

  • You're lucky, Matt, The Rev repeated. You don't have the mark...

  • Which mark ? What are you talking about ?

I took a few steps back and tripped on Syn's dead body. Jimmy showed me his left hand, and I saw the purple coffin tattoo on his middle finger. I took a look at Syn's hand, disgusted. The skin of his left hand has been completely removed. What did Jimmy said ? The proof is gone... He was talking about the tattoo.

  • When all the bearers of the mark will be dead, then the beast will awake, The Rev continued. And that'll be the end. Syn was the first. Zacky will be the next...

Jimmy walked toward me and grabbed me by the collar. He put me back on my feet. Man, he's gotten strength ! There were no expression or feeling in his eyes. He looked like he was contolled by someone or something.

The Rev slowly disappeared, leaving me alone. I immediately jumped on the phone and called the cops. I was nervous, paniqued, unable to think. I waited for the police outside. I coudn't stay with a dead body, even if it's Brian. I only entered when the police arrived. And I had a shock. Syn has disappeared. No corpse, no blood. I was taken for a idiot.

The beast finally awoke. The Rev said the truth. People turned over me for advice, the same fucking people that has laughed of me. But they were all doomed. Cuz I'm the beast.
