Akane lay in thoughful silence on her bed, staring up at
but not seeing the patterns in the ceiling. She had just endured
what could be considered an 'unusual' day; one that had turned her
entire life upside down, and brought her perilously close to blowing
everything she'd worked for.
It had begun with her father's cryptic announcement that he
had 'arranged' for one of his daughters to marry his friend's son.
That was bad enough, but when she had been 'volunteered' for the
job by her dear sisters, things got much worse.
First, a panda showed up with a red-haired girl slung
over its shoulder, and scared the daylights out of her and her
sisters. Her father was as shocked as everyone else, having been
expecting his friend and the son.
When the girl introduced herself as Saotome Ranma, the
name her father had used for his friend's son, she had been
secretly delighted, although she didn't let on right away.
It was possible her father had it wrong; maybe the 'son' was
actually a daughter. That was certainly a possibility, given how
Japanese names worked, and taking into account what looked like
pretty sloppy handwriting.
The red-haired girl herself was cute, well-built, and
seemed to radiate a strength that washed over anyone near her. She
also seemed quiet and shy at first, given how she hardly reacted
when Nabiki poked at her breast.
She frowned slightly at the memory, knowing Nabiki was
always was one to take advantage of a situation. She'd felt like
telling her off, but left it at a cold glare.
Later, when she invited the red-haired girl to spar with
her in the Dojo, she had been amazed at her ability. The
effortless grace with which she avoided attacks, the bright smile
on her slightly smug face, and the flash in her bottomless blue
eyes belied her initial reserve.
And she'd felt more alive just being near her.
Her comment as she left the Dojo afterwards had gone
unanswered, which at the time she wrote off to the red-haired
girl's shyness. That in turn had left her totally unprepared for
what happened next.
Already undressed for her own bath, she had been quite
happy to see the red-haired girl's clothes in the changeroom,
anticipating a pleasant bath with her. Seeing a BOY in the tub
had scared her out of 10 years growth, especially since he was
standing up, nude, and looking right at her. She had panicked,
assuming that he had broken in and done something awful to the
red-haired girl, and she had come along just as he was leaving.
She still shuddered at the thought; a boy -- nude; *ugh*.
But it soon turned out to have been a blessing in disguise.
Afterwards, when her father's friend explained their
curses, she didn't want to believe it. But, when the boy's
father threw him into the koi pond, she had no choice. The
sad fact upset her so much that she felt like crying, but the
red-haired girl came to the rescue, providing her with a perfect
excuse to vent her feelings.
She hadn't meant to hit her so hard, but she had been
so... So... Disappointed.
After the girl recovered, she'd wanted to apologize to her,
but every time she saw *him*, she was reminded of the scene
in the bath. That would ruin the mood instantly, and she would
inevitably end up in a screaming match with the guy.
The red-haired girl had only made a few more appearances
after that, as the surprisingly vicious battles between the boy
and his father resulted in their taking turns in the koi pond.
It had been hard on her, since the red-haired girl would
simply peel her shirt and pants off after the battles, and wring
them out off the laundry porch. The girl certainly wasn't shy
about her body, and that fact that it was such a nice one didn't
Finally, everyone had gone to bed, the boy and his father
bunking in the empty bedroom, only a short distance from her own.
In fact, they were so close that she could hear their
raucous snores plainly.
With a long, deep sigh, she rose from her bed and toed on
her slippers, intent on heading to the bath. She knew it was going
to be a long time before she'd be getting any sleep.
As she passed the guest room, she couldn't help but glance
at the door, and noted that it was slightly ajar. Suddenly curious
as to how the boy slept, she stepped up and peered in through the
She had to stifle a soft gasp. Just inside the door, and
plainly visible in the room's dim light, lay the barely-clad form
of the red haired girl. She was spreadeagled flat on her back,
feet toward the door.
Akane felt her face heat, and within moments, she became
aware of a very warm, pleasant feeling elsewhere.
As she stood drinking in the magnificent sight, the red
haired girl breathed a soft moan, rolled to the side, and slowly
pulled up one leg. The act presented such a delicious view of her
shapley rear that Akane thought she'd faint.
Her lips drying and heart pounding, she finally had to
tear her eyes away, only to end up slumped against the opposite
hallway wall, hands clenched together against her heaving chest.
A heartbeat later, she descended into stifled tears.
Keeping her deepest secret was going to be harder than it
had ever been.
