“Listen to this,” Chuck said as he pulled a walkie-talkie out of knows where and pushed a button. Immediately David’s sobbing filled the air along with Seb’s soothing voice. I didn’t know how Seb could understand David through his crying but, whatever Seb was saying, it wasn’t helping matters much. “Still think I’m blowing it out of proportion?”

The sentence hung in the air once I noticed who was standing on the front porch.
