My Giving Romance
"Calm down, Frankie", poor thing...he's freaking out like crazy! "It's not like you haven't been to
my parents house before".
"I know, but the last time I went there was a reeeeeeeeallly long time ago...I don't know how
they'll think of me now" he was fidgeting in his seat.
"Frankie, I love you...so they have to love you", my hand was on his thigh as I talked. Then
I grabbed his hand holding it tightly. "I promise everything will be fine." I smiled. He looked up
at me with worry, but hope in his eyes.
"Thanks, Gerard", he smiled. "I love you too."
We were in the car on our way to my parents house for Thanks Giving...this is going to be
great.(sarcasm). Sure I was just talking about how Frankie was freaking out, but it's different for
me. There's no better way to ruin a relationship then by going to your parents house! I mean parents
do that type of shit so I have a right to be scared....Oh shit....I hope they don't do anything

"Okay, Mom, you know the plan right?"
"Yeah, honey, I got it" She smiled.
"This is going to be great! Gerard has no idea!" I was practically jumping up and down from
"Calm down, Mikey. It might not even work as planned." She turned from the kitchen sink to look at
me. I could see that, in her eyes, she didn't even believe what she just said. This would work. I
know it would.
Gerard and Frankie have been together for a long time. They live together and...well, they're
just everything a couple should be. Except for the fact that they're not ``officially'' a
I heard a car door shut and I almost totally lost it! I was jumping up and down again.
"Mikey! Stop it! Your going to give it away!" She laughed. Then I had to calm down because I knew
Gerard would know something was up if I showed all this excitement.
The door knob, of the front door, turned and everyone was standing behind it. Everyone including:
Me, my mom, my dad, Ray and Bob. Ray and Bob were invited just because this is going to be a SPECIAL
Now that I think of it....I wonder if Gerard was planning on "giving" anything to Frank for Thanks
Giving. Hahaha...if you get my drift.
Anyways, they finally walked through the door and I leaped at my brother.
"Happy Thanks Giving!" I wrapped him in a huge hug. I don't see him to often now that he lives with
Frank in their own apartment. So I truly was happy to see him. It wasn't just the surprise
getting to me.

We walked into the front door, Frank's hand in mine, and were wildly greeted by my family. And...Ray
and Bob? Why were they here?
I kinda got ``knocked out'' of my train of thought when Mikey pounced on me like a wild panther! I
thought I was being attacked!
"Happy Thanks Giving!" he squealed. I pushed him off me.
"Happy Thanks Giving, Mikey!" I smiled patting his hair.
I gave my mom and dad a kiss on the cheek, nicely re-introducing Frank. Then made my way to Ray and
Bob who were standing to the right of the crowd, waiting.
"Hey, guys!" I spread my arms wide, letting go of Frank's hand to hug them both. "What are you doin
here?" I said with a wide smile on my face. I don't get to see my old friends and family to much,
now that me and Frank live together deeper in the city of New Jersey.
"We just thought this was a good way to hang out for a day. So we called up your mom and asked if we
could come over." Ray stated.
"We didn't have plans with our family or anything." Bob added.
"Well, that's really cool, it's nice to see you all". I smiled, and then stepped back to let Frank
say hello to Toro and Bob too.
Maybe it was just me being stupid or something, but it seemed like Bob and Toro had a script or
something. Like those weren't their words....hmmm... I'm probably just over reacting. I mean come
on! a script!?
Once everyone was done greeting each other we all made our way to the table.
I went through the living room wear Frank was sitting, nervously, straight up on the couch, playing
with his fingers. I walked over and laid my hand on both of his, this got his attention, and he
"Frank, come on. We're getting ready to eat." He mumbled something incoherent, but then arose from
the couch and let me walk him to the dining room, his hand in mine.
I smiled as I entered. It seemed like everyone was staring at us. They were all already seated and
waiting on us....embarrassing?...kinda.
I walked Frank to the far side of the table, where two seats, side by side, were left open. I waited
till he was seated to take my seat.
There was food flooding the dinner table. Turkey in the middle, with candles on either side of it,
and tons and tons of other foods around the turkey. Like sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn,
green beans… pretty much anything you could think of. Wow, mom worked herself hard this
I joined hands with my father, who was sitting on the end, and Frank. Frank joined hands with Toro
who was on the other end. We prayed, then started to feast!
The only weird thing was...there was no talking...uh, awkward. Don't you usually talk on Thanks
Giving? I mean especially when you don't see your friend or child and his boyfriend for the longest
I looked over at Frank and the silence was definitely getting to him. I took his hand under the
table and used my thumb to smoothen out his hand. But nothing happened. Still, silence. I looked
across the table at my mom, who was staring at me. I don't know why, but I got so nervous I just
started eating the food that I had shoved on my plate. Frank did the same.
When silence passed for a like 5 minutes I looked over a Frank again. Still nervous as hell. And I
knew my voice was going to be shaky when I did this...
"It's okay, Frankie", I whispered in his ear, then quickly placed a small kiss on his cheek, for
comfort. He smiled, but not at me. He was still focusing on his plate. My mom was the one to FINALLY
break the silence.
"So when are you two getting married?" All the food I had thrown into my mouth landed back on my
plate. I think Frank did the same.
"What?!" I said, in shock. Yup, leave it to my family to screw things up!
I started looking at everyone's face at the table. "Your kidding, right?" I felt Frank wince at my
words. Shit, that was kind of mean wasn't it? "I mean, yeah, but no....wait...what?" I was beginning
to go hysterical with my words. "..Like I want to, but...no...yes..now?!". My mom had a blank
expression on her face. Yeah... I'm only… FREAKING OUT HERE! Someone help!
"Well, I was just asking because you to seem very close. And I was wondering if you were planning on
marriage." She looked at me like it was a question. I could hear Mikey giggling, who was diagonally
sitting across from me, to the left, on the other side of the table.
There was a long pause. Why wasn't Frank saying anything? I looked over at him, he looked completely
frozen. Yet, I could still see the hurt in his eyes.... god damn family....
"It's...not like I don't think about it...but..." I searched for words.
"But you don't have a ring?" she pressed.
"Not just that...I just...was never sure if we were...ready" I took my time saying every individual
word. Then I felt Frank's eyes on me. I turned my head to look him in the eyes.
They were sad, but understanding. He moved his hand so that he was holding mine and whispered, "It's
okay". He smiled. I tried to smile back, but the shock of this whole moment was still plastered on
my face. I looked back at my mom.
"Cause, you know...I have a ring." She hinted. Then I saw her smiled break through her serious
THAT'S WHAT ALL THIS WAS ABOUT ALL DAY! I felt a smile break through my face too.
"This is why everyone is so weird today?" I stuttered through the words. "This is why Bob and Toro
and here?" I was so happy I almost jumped out of my seat.
I forever wanted to be officially bonded with Frank...but I never had the money. Somehow Mikey or my
mother or father must have found out and they planned this whole thing! Oh my god! I could feel the
blood shooting up and into my cheeks. I knew what this meant.
My mom was still smiling. I looked toward Frank and a smile was on his face too. He wasn't so
nervous anymore. I used my other hand to grab Frank's and held it close to my heart, just staring
into his eyes. Physically, I was asking if it was alright.
I saw moisture form in his eyes and he shook his head up and down. I looked towards my mom and
smiled, then let go of Frank's hands and walked with my mother upstairs.
She led me into her bedroom and to her dresser. A big jewelry box sat on top of it. She opened one,
of the many, drawers in it and pulled out a small box. She laid it in my hand. It felt like velvet.
In the dim light it was hard to tell what color it was, but it looked like red. My heart
"Mom..." I lost all knowledge of words. "I..." I looked up at her and smiled, feeling tears well up
in my eyes.
"Shh...don't thank me. Just go and purpose. We've been waiting for a really long time". She
laughed. And smoothened out my hair. I bent down a little so that I could wrap her in a big hug.
"I don't know what to say", I said as I pulled away. I was on the verge of crying. Tears of joy. I
looked her in the eyes and she smiled.
"Just go purpose already!" She laughed as she playfully slapped my arm. I smiled one last smile at
her and made my way out of the room.

I sat impatiently in my chair. I knew what was going to happen, but I couldn't believe it.
Gerard...and I, finally...together. Like permanently! I don't know if I can hold it in! I could feel
the tears welling up. I don't know how long I can hold them in!
I looked around at Mikey, Bob, Toro, and Mr. Way and smiled. And that's when a tear slipped. I
quickly wiped it away
"Thank you", I whispered to all of them. They nodded their heads in reply. And that's when I heard
Gerard coming down the steps. I looked down the hall way waiting for him to appear. And thankfully
he did. His mom followed behind him and in his hand he carried a small red box.
This was it.
He came around the dinner table and stood in front of me. I looked up at him, a smile spreading on
my face. He smiled back, then slowly bent down on one knee. He held the velvet red box out in the
palm of his hand. Then he looked up at me. His eyes almost looked pleading.
"...Frank Iero." He stopped like that was the wrong way to start. "Frankie-" He smiled. "I promise
to love you, forever and always." I saw him swallow hard. "Will you marry me?"
I almost froze. I felt the tears really pushing hard on my eyes now and I just let them roll out.
When I knew I wouldn't be able to talk right, even if I tried, I just shook my head up and down in
response. A smile stretched across his face and I saw him rise from the ground and all the sudden
his warm arms were around me. I held him tightly not wanting to ever let him go.
"Yes..." I whispered, into his ear. Then pulled him tighter into the hug. I could tell he was crying
"I love you, Frankie." he said, through sniffle. I pulled my hands up from his back and tangled my
fingers in his hair so his head was tightly against my shoulder.
"Oh, Gerard, I love you too!" I was getting hysterical. But I never ever ever ever ever wanted to
let Gerard go. And he didn't let me go either. Infact! He picked me up from my chair and spun me
around in his arms. That's when he pulled away to look me in the eyes.
"Frankie, I love you so much". Tears were still falling from both of our eyes.
"I know, I know." my fingers were playing with his long hair at the back of his neck. Nervousness, I
guess. Then I pulled him into another tight hug. We were so tightly packed in the hug that you'd
think we would have been smashed into one person. I just never wanted to let him go. This was the
best Thanks Giving ever!
When we finally parted Gerard wanted answers.

"Okay, who planned this one?" I asked, looking towards my family, and friends, who were all standing
around the table now. My arm was around Frankie's waist and his was around mine.
Mikey raised his hand in the air. A huge grin spread across his face.
"That would be me!" he answered. I laughed. And motioned for him to come over.
"Come here!" I said. he made his way past my mom and dad. Mom was smiling like an idiot. She must be
He stood in front of me and I gave him and huge noogey and then pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you so much" i told him. Then i let him free and looked at my mom.'' Thank you mom, for the
ring." Then I looked toward my dad. "Thanks dad".Then I looked at Ray and Bob. "Thank you guys for
I could tell both me and Frankie were really happy. This was the best Thanks Giving ever.
I looked at all them in silence, and then yelled, "Well, lets eat!"
We all sat back down in our chairs, my arm still around Frankie. No way was I going to let him go.
And I didn't realize it, until now, but the whole time I am thinking about him I was staring at him.
Or in other words. I've been staring and Frankie for a while, now, while everyone else is eating. So
I forced myself to look away from my beautiful boyfriend and started to eat.

Wow that was cute! haha. I'm glad Gerard didn't like flip out about our little scheme on him and
Frankie. It actually turned out pretty well.
As I was eating, though, I notice Gerard wouldn't stop staring at Frankie...I wonder if he's
planning to give him "something" for Thanks Giving now!?
A/N: hahaha. Hope you guys like it! Its just a little one shot I
thought of. I figured it would be something nice for Thanks Giving! haha, so Happy Thanks Giving
