"Come on Bob, get in!" Ray Toro begged.

Bob Bryar stood, fully clothed, on the deck of their hotel pool. "No." He shook his head.

Ray stood in the shallow end, trying to cajole Bob into joining him and the others."Fine." He turned and joined Frank, Gerard, and Mikey who were playing basketball. Frank had just launched himself on to his team mate's (Mikey) shoulders and was trying to drop the ball into the hoop. Gerard was splashing around trying desperately to knock the ball from his hands.

Bob retreated to the room he and Ray were sharing. He couldn't swim, Toro knew that, and he still tryed to get Bob into the pool at every hotel they stayed in. He turned on the T.V. and watched Spike until he fell asleep.

^^^^^^^^^^

He awoke the next day to Ray shaking him.

"Get up. We gotta go." Ray said, pulling on a t-shirt.

"Where?" He asked as he checked the clock. 7:30. Too early.

Ray gave him an evil smirk and muttered. "You'll see."

And so ten minutes later he was stuffed in the back seat of a rental car between Ray and Mikey, while Gerard gave Frank vague directions.

"Will someone please tell me where we're going?" He begged for the fifteenth time.

"NO!" Frank said from the driver's seat and turned the radio up.

After a wrong turn and several one way streets Frank guided the car into a parking space in front of a large brick building. They all climbed out and Gerard led them inside.

As soon as he stepped inside Bob knew why no one had told him. An olympic sized swimming pool sat in front of him and three high school aged girls were waiting in swim suits by the shallow end.

"Oh fuck no." He said turning towards the door. Ray and Mikey blocked his escape.

"Bob, you need to know how to swim. We took the liberty of making some arrangements for you to learn." Gerard said matter of factly.

"I have no trunks." Bob said smugly, thinking he had won.

Frank dangled a pair of blue and white swim trunks in front of his face. "You were saying?" He smirked. "Go get 'em tiger." They all shoved him towards the locker rooms.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

"Alright, we'll start with the freestyle." A tall girl with long brown hair who had briskly introduced herself as Kathy said to him. She and the other two girls, stood with Bob in the three foot.

Bob sighed as she explained then demonstrated the stroke. His 'friends' had forced him to change and get in the pool, then abandoned him. Well he was going to show them. He was determined to learn how to swim as quickly as possible and get this over with.

The shortest of the girls, an intense looking red-head named Amanda, nudged him, jerking him out of his revenge plots. She gestured towards Kathy who was standing with and impatient look on the other side of the pool. His "teachers" were three high school seniors, who had been swimming since they were in diapers. At least, that's the impression Bob had gotten from Kathy's slightly long winded introduction to swimming. It might have gone on but Maria, a cheerful black girl with a fro to rival Ray's, had pleasantly told her to shut it.

Bob heaved another sigh and set off across the pool. This was gonna be a long day...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

"So how'd it go?" Mikey asked when they returned for him several hours later, bearing take-out and cookies.

Bob glared and grabbed a cookie. "You four are so gonna get it."

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The last guitar chords faded away as the crowd cheered. Gerard walked to the front of the stage.

"This last song, I'd like to dedicate to Kathy, Amanda, and Maria, three amazing fans who taught Bob how to swim."

Bob smirked. Drowning Lessons never sounded so good.
