Come Visit Me In My Dreams
By Giovanna

Ever gone to bed wanting to just sleep? You lie down, close your eyes and get comfortable. Your mind starts to wonder to things that are worrying you, thing happening to you, or just random thoughts about life. You look at the clock realising nearly a whole hour has gone by, yet you're still awake.

Then you hear a noise. You turn your body to see, no one is there, just the movement of your house as the weather outside gets colder. You toss and turn for another few minutes letting your thoughts turn to your room. How old is that teddy in the corner?

You hear another noise and it gets your heart beating. How can a newly built house make so much sound?

Then it hits you. Your heart beat increases, your ears strain to listen, the room temperature is rising, and you start to sweat. You sit up in bed, eyes resting on your light switch. Should you turn it on? You hear another noise. You jump out of bed and run to the switch. Oh yes you most definitely must switch that light on.

You return to bed as you look around your room. They say everything looks better in the dark. But how much of that is true? No, really though. What's so scary about a few band posters, a computer desk and a pile of clothes?

You hear human movement now. Guess you're not the only one awake. Your sister gets up to get a drink. She's causing too much movement for your liking. Once she is back in bed, you attempt to lie down again. Your light is still on.

You go to reach for your ipod, and then you remember last thing you were listening to was Marilyn Manson. Right now you know that's the last music you want to be listening to.

Thinking against it you grab a notebook, so you can start writing this down. That's when everything makes sense. As you start the first line you replay everything in your head. You know the reason why you can't sleep. It was right there in front of you all along.

You realise the reason you can't sleep is because you are lonely.
