Feelings of Knowing You
By Ensatsukokuryuha

Feelings of Knowing You

I don't know why I'm feeling this way. This emotion I feel now that he left. Perhaps I'll understand looking at things from the beginning.

It all began when I left the Land of Glaciers, and came to the Human World looking for my twin brother. He was cast out of our lands for being born a boy, as boys are thought to be forbidden children.

In the Human World, I was captured by an evil, rich man named Tarukane. He learned of the Hirui stones, which are stones Ice Maidens, like myself, can produce when we cry. The Hirui stones are beautiful pearl white stones, which Tarukane used to gain even more wealth.

It was not long after this, when we first met. He helped me to be free of Tarukane, and he was a demon, like me. His name was Hiei. Hiei had dark raven black hair that was spiked up in a way that defied gravity and he had deep crimson red eyes.

At that moment, as I looked at him, I was pulled into a strange feeling. A feeling as though I knew him for years. And his eyes, even as I watched him for a brief moment, I could sense something mysterious about them hidden within. But even now, I don't know what it was.

Later, I was granted permission to stay in the Human World with a kind elderly woman named Genkai. She was an acquaintance of Hiei and his friends, who also helped me that day. In this way, I was able to get know Hiei and his friends better.

Hiei was quiet, and would never talk much. Yet, he was always very kind to me. And after awhile, I began to wonder if this is what it would be like to have a brother. As I got an impression of him, that he would not let anything harm me. But now, it brings me back to this moment.

Hiei was now leaving for the Demon World, our home world. “Are you really leaving?” I asked. Hiei nodded in response. “Then, please take this with you,” I said to him, as I held out a radiant blue Hirui stone, “This is a memento from my mother. When Ice Maidens give birth, they shed one tear that is a different color from regular Hirui stones. They say my mother, Hina, shed two tears. I have one, and my brother should have the other.”

“Why would you give me your memento?” Hiei asked me.

I replied, “If you meet someone with something like that, I'd like you to give it to them. Also, please tell them that I'll be waiting for them in the Human World.”

“He has to be dead. He was cast off from the floating castle in the sky,” Hiei answered back.

“I'm sure he's alive,” I told him.

It was during this time when I was talking to him, that I felt perhaps he could be my brother and if not, I'd wish for my brother to be like him. And as we were talking, I could see it in his eyes, that there was something he was trying to hide. The feeling that I knew him all along came rushing back to me, just like the time before. And for a moment, I felt I knew him, in a whole new light.
