One of Them
By Crystal Eyed Geisha

Inuyasha sat in his usual place, on a branch in the Sacred tree, over looking the forest. "I'm
tired," he murmered, "Tired of being treated as nothing, or as if I have the plague." His eyes
started to tear up. "The only ones who treated me like I was somethin' was......my mother, and
Kagome..."

As if on cue, Kagome's peach and cherry blossom scent filled his nostrils. He quickly rid himself of
his unshed tears.

"Inuyasha," she called, "Are you okay?"

"Feh..I'm fine, wench. What makes you think otherwise?"

Kagome rolled her eyes. "Oh, I don't know, maybe how quickly you left the hut?" she retorted.

"Like I said, I'm fine."

Kagome stared into the trees. "Yeah, right."

Inuyasha suddenly lept down from his spot, landing directly in ront of Kagome. "Ya know, you can be
annoying."

"So can you." she said, getting into his face.

"Why don't you just go back to the old kusobaba's hut and leave me alone." he said, turning on his
heel. He really didn't feel like arguing with her right now.

"I won't because I know you're lying. Inuyasha, even though we haven't known eachother long, I know
when you're upset." she said, stepping closer to him, "And now is one of those times."

"Feh..."

"Inuyasha..-"

"Kagome, are you okay?!" came the voice of a familiar, curious kitsune.

Kagome turned around slightly. "I'm fine, Shippo. Why don't you go back to the hut and wiat for
me?"

"Why?" Shippo asked, head slightly cocked to the side.

"Because she doesn't want your annoying ass around!" Inuyasha shouted as he lept into the air,
aiming for the tree..

However....he never made it that far.

"Sit boy!"

*SLAM!*

"Stupid wench." she could hear him growl.

Shippo blinked a couple of times in confusion, then nodded to Kagome and lept off towards the hut.

When he was out of sight, Kagome walked over to the still paralyzed Inuyasha. "Now, tell me what's
wrong, or I'll say the 's' word again, making you go deeper into the ground."

"Feh..." he said. He sat up, and crossed his legs indian style, and crossed his arms over his chest.
He just sat there for a few moments, tense as hell, and Kagome beside him.

A few moments of silence passed. "Inuyasha, I guess you didn't think I was serious, did you?" Kagome
finally spoke up.

"Feh..."

"Si-"

"Onegai, don't...." he sighed. "I'll tell you."

Kagome relaxed and waited for him to begin.

"I'm just tired." he said, "I'm tired of everyone treating me like kuso, just because I'm a hanyou."
Before Kagome could say anything, he continued. "Just because I am not full youkai, no youkai, not
even my brother will accept me, and because I'm not full human,......"

"No human will accept you." Kagome finished that sentence for him. "I see..."

"The only people who have really ever treated me nice were....my mother, and you.. You're not scared
of me, and never really have been." he said, "Even Miroku, Sango, and Shippo are wary around me."

It took a few moments to let this sink in. She shook her head to snap back to reality, getting a
confused look from Inuyasha. "Inuyasha, they know you wouldn't hurt them.... And other humans,
well.....they'd accept you if they got to know you. You may seem tough on the outside, but I know
you're really not."

"Feh. And just how do you know that?" Inuyasha asked, giving her his cocky grin.

"Because I know you." she smiled.

Inuyasha said nothing, just looked into the sky.

"Inuyasha, come on, I got Sango to start some ramen before I left."

"Ramen?!" Inuyasha asked, eyes glistening. 'Maybe ramen will take my mind offa this mess.'

Kagome giggled and nodded, and before she realized it, Inuyasha had her on his back and was bounding
off towards the hut.
