I thought it was one of the guys at first but it was Tara.
“Holy shit `T' you scared the hell outta me” I let out a small laugh and slipped on the
“I didn't want to listen o your mom so I came up here. So how are you feeling?” My
answer to that was clear, 'like crap' but I couldn't say that because she would ask why then I would
have to tell her, and I wouldn't be able to trust her.
“I'm fine” I could feel my teeth crumble and rotting inside my mouth, to many lies in
one day. She just half smiled and nodded. She was amazed at how awkward my room was. She kept
looking at one painting on the wall that I bought from a dealer about two years ago.
“That painting is supposed to represent a living thing trying to get rid of the evil inside
themselves. To fight the great fight takes courage to do so and well I just like looking at it, you
can get lost in the tranquility of it. The red, the blood, would represent an experience that hurt
or traumatized that poor creature. Either a pitiful human being or a destructive animal, either way
it could still mean the same thing.” She looked at me then at the painting, the look on her
face made me giggle.
“ How could you get that response from a piece of paper with a bunch of blobs of color that
looks like a bleeding butterfly?”
“you just answered your own question, a bleeding butterfly, could have been through something
you think?” I was trying to get her to think about what she felt and what she thought but it
didn't work. There was a knock at the door. “is everyone decent?” we heard mumbled
through the door.
“yeah come on in” The reaction on Steve's face was kind of like Tara's except his I
could make more things out of it.
“This room does not belong to a normal 17 year old!!” He looked at me then around the
room. “your crutches are outside your door by the way”
“You seriously think I could pull off normal?” I laughed at myself and Tara said
something but I didn't catch it. ”I don't think so!! I can barely pull off doing my home work
let alone normal.” the look on his face was priceless, I was confusing him and he quickly
backed out of the room. I had on my jeans still and one of Derek's old T's.
“Tara lets go, I grabbed my crutches but going down the stairs was really interesting. The
guys and my mom were just sitting in the living room laughing at me because I looked funny.
“you know that you guys are evil right?” I raised an eyebrow and half a smile popped
out of nowhere.
“Yeah and I fancy it in all of them” My mom was trying to sound like a 19 year old by
the look on her face.
“Jason what have you been up to since the last time I saw you at the party?” Mother was
back to her normal self and he just blinked a few times.
“Well I…I…I… I don't really know! Umm doing shows and sleeping
mostly” The guys burst out laughing and I giggled from where I was sitting on the floor.
“Well the party was pretty cool, got drunk” Everyone except Tara and my mom knew that he
“pretty much the same thing except I had a little bit of fun today with the guys”
“I'm guessing you guys are the same?” She asked forwarding that to Dave and Derek. They
just nodded and said that they had to go to a sound check.
“you wanna come?” Derek appointed that to me. I just sat on the floor looking confused.
“Uhh yeah I'll tag along” He offered me his hand to help me up and I pushed myself off
the ground and he pulled me up. I was to lazy to use my crutches so I jumped on his back.
“something is up your being to nice to me” I whispered in his ear and he snickered.
Steve grabbed my crutches and we all yelled bye. A Friday night going to a sound check and well I
get to stay for the concert and the after party. Wow I'm going to sleep all day tomorrow. The arena
they were playing at was across town. I was brought up the stairs and dropped in a chair. Derek sat
on me so I couldn't get up.
“I'm being nice because well you're my sister and I'm sorry for hitting you I lost it and
well Cone really cares bout you but I'm still watching you two.” I made the hand jester for
I'm watching you and I laughed at him. I moved my leg which made him go off balance and fall. I
laughed even harder, when Dave came up he asked why I was crying and I tried to say it but I just
laughed some more. Derek got off the floor and tried to act like nothing happened to him. I got up
and he pushed me back into the chair so I stayed there. Cone came up to get his picks. I was teasing
him and he pretended to be mad at me.
“you know I don't even like you” he joked in an angry tone.
“I just pretend to like you, Steve is paying me to” I closed my eyes and looked away.
When I opened them he was kissing me and had his arm around waist. I closed my eyes and kissed him
back. I pulled away after a few kisses.
“So what about this concert where is it ?” I asked still with him leaning over top of
me with each one of his hands on the sides if the chair.
“umm iunno where it is I just play there and get paid to do it!!” he snickered and
kissed me again. I got out of the chair and jumped on his back. Gosh I don't have to walk anywhere I
get piggy backs from everyone!! He stumbled a bit and got his balance, down the stair I was swaying
from side to side which was making him stumble even more. When everyone saw us come down they just
continued to play their video games. He blatantly dropped me on the couch I sat in the corner
watching them play video games. He laid down on the couch with his head in my lap. I was playing
with his hair, he mumbled something, but I wasn't listening.
“Stevo, Davey, D-D, and Cone the SUM 41 boys. Derek is my brother, Cone is my boyfriend how
could I get myself into this mess!” I joked and Cone got up from where he was laying.
